Not sure if this was right place to put this or not. New Star Trek : Timelines book from DK coming in November. Nice surprise. There has been nothing close to this since Star Trek First Contact come out. Those chronology books is what got me into the idea of fictional timelines in the first place. Here is a video interview with the four authors this will be as canonical and official as something like this ever can be. It's going into everything alternate timelines, time travel, the Kelvin Universe. It's good that something so expansive has 4 authors. You can tell they are careful to answer too many questions yet. Not surprising some of their choices will be greatly debated among fans. 😉

let's hope they add the expanded universe like comics and novels.

Maybe in a limited amount. But how do they decide what to include? The books and comics over the years have always been the tail not the dog. They have always adjusted when new series and movies come along. I am just pleased from those samples that the animated series is fully included. Okuda was insistent in following Roddenberry's line that that was not Canon. But a lot has cha ged since those books. Multiple series have referenced TAS and we have new animated shows that no one questions the canonicity at all.

yeah but it was already known that TAS was canon... I also disliked the way it's presented, in the samples they just list the year, I was expecting something more detailed from Star Trek, with a D/M/Y system. Like even the Memory Beta timeline did a much better job than that, and also the way it's presented, I watched all of the Original Series, but reading through that I couldn't recognise if they were talking about an episode or a comic.

Tho one thing I praise is that there's a STO event, meaning that they finally debunked the unfonded myth that only the series and films were canon in Star Trek, but aside from that I'm honestly much more in hype for the Tomb Raider Timeline book rather than this one.

In the end when a timeline book is done, I expect something more detailed than just list the years stories happen, cos we do it right here, when building a timeline, not even making one detailed, just building a draft for it, so I'd just stik to Memory Beta's Chronology.

Like I have issues with the MCU timeline book but at least they listed in cases the month or day some events happened.

EDIT: Another example for what I'm saying is like there was the 2270 sample, there were some events from TAS and such, but where was Kirk's final mission in his 5-years mission?

The main thing I'm wondering is production order vs airdate order. This does affect the chronology of events.

If we take every little connection and easter egg at face value, almost any book, movie, tv show and video game could be set in the same universe

I used to be able to view how many views each thread has, but I don't think I can anymore. I think you can see, possibly, current viewers? 🤷‍♂️

If this is based off tiny connections, wouldn't the Good Guy dolls in that one comic bring the Slasherverse into this?

I think those are vague enough. It's a comic panel with a doll that kinda looks like Chucky, not a crossover character, spoken reference or direct statement. You could do that if you wanted though.

Guys, do you want some nerd facts to shock you today? I have something for you!

https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Kirk

https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Spock

P.S. Idk why the wiki has them in the canon category even tho they come from an expanded universe work. I guess it went down like this:

- "Uhm... sir why are Kirk and Spock in the canon category? They should be in the legends one!"

- "Excuse me?"

- "Sir... they're legends characters"

- "Kirk and Spock AREN'T Legends"

- "Sir But-"

- "They're Canon characters! I don't care, you don't make them any less"

- "O..Ok"

They come from a 2020 book. Are you sure that's EU?

their phisical appearence and 1st mention comes from an EU Book/comic.
Only the physical appearance, the 1st mention listed is canon. Think I even mentioned that in one of the Star Wars threads a while back

They don't have a legends page, as they haven't been identified as Kirk / Spock in their one panel comic cameo, also the reaslns why Bones doesn't have an article either

anyways, being serious again. If someone is wondering, nope. We can't use their presence to say that the Skywalker Saga happens in the 23rd century, I remind you that in Star Trek TOS the 2nd season finale is the Enterprise going back in time to 1967.

So while not stated they could have also went back in time again.

I like that actually

Btw, not sure which is the current Star Wars thread, so just here. I've been reading the EU Republic Comics (read them if you haven't, they're actually reaaallly good), and, if we're meging EU with Canon, there might be an issue with these comics & Dark Disciple. Don't wanna spoil it right here, just go look at Quinlan Vos' Legends Wookieepedia article (you'll know what I'm talkin about, it's early on in his Clone Wars section.) Not sure how to explain that...

I know about that, I guess I'll have to move things a bit.

Would be interesting to see someone attempt a timeline for Tokyo Ghoul's manga (or god forbid, the animes that MASSIVELY deviate from the manga's story after season 1).

Supposedly there are five Lady Death timelines (Chaos, CrossGen, Avatar, animated film and Coffin), plus an Evil Ernie timeline disconnected from any of them during a rights issue period that may or may not be ongoing.
