Company of Heroes was the only game released this year that I picked up for my aging PC, and it was totally awesome.

Seriously, it was an excellent result of trying to fine-tune the RTS formula for a specific kind of setting, with the design being modified to reasonably abstract the way World War II was fought, as opposed to so many RTSes that seem to shoehorn the setting into the formula.
