personally i would watch them in release order as a newcomer; as for a timeline, my headcanon is:
- 1983 - fall of society begins, formal police forces and governments dissolve
- 1985 - Mad Max
- 1988 - The Road Warrior
- ~1990 - worldwide nuclear apocalypse occurs
- 2003 - Beyond Thunderdome
- 2028-2046 - Furiosa
- 2049 - Fury Road
