I think this should be fun. Let's see if I can explain it well enough to have it actually make sense.

Basically, create an album that is YOU. Songs that affect you, songs you feel relate to you, songs you like the most. Let's say about 12-13 songs, list them in the order you feel they'll work best etc. And try and keep it to no more than 2-3 songs per band, otherwise we'll get people saying "The White Album" or "OK Computer".

Hopefully this will work. I'll try and work on mine during the day.

It would be neat if we could also compile our songs and upload them as an album. Let's go listen to the "Moonmaster Album" or the "E Album." :D

Korn - Dead
Static-X - The Trance Is The Motion
Godsmack - Trippin
Puddle Of Mudd - Nobody Told Me
Radiohead - Creep
Evanescence - The Only One
Nine Inch Nails - Terrible Lie
Orgy - Blue Monday
Cinderella - Nobody's Fool
Aerosmith - Dream On
REM - Losing My Religion
Goo Goo Dolls - Iris
Everlast - What It's Like
Rammstein - Ich Vill
Marilyn Manson - The Fight Song
Godsmack - Keep Away
Mushroomhead - Simple Survival
Nine Inch Nails - Head Like A Hole

I can think of a "theme" album to try later, so for now I'll just do some of my favorite songs.

I won't bother "producing" it so that it sounds better from track to track, but here it goes:

Miserlou - Dick Dale & His Deltones
Danger! High Voltage - Electric Six
Revolution - The Beatles
Bitterblue - Cat Stevens
Big River - Johnny Cash
Free Four - Pink Floyd
Interstate Love Song - Stone Temple Pilots
Back In Black - AC/DC
Scentless Apprentice - Nirvana
Ballroom Blitz - Sweet
Hard Luck Woman - Garth Brooks (yes, really)
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Bold As Love - Jimi Hendrix
Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress - The Hollies
Black Diamond - Kiss

I put this together today. I tried to make sure that the songs that I picked-as well as being songs that I really like and that I think fit "who I am"-fit together as a cohesive collection. I kind of have a bizarre obsession with tracklistings. I get annoyed when albums don't balance and organize songs on an album properly. (FYI: "Demon Days" by Gorillaz has an excellently arranged tracklisting.) I actually think these flow together really well. I'll have to listen to the whole thing sometime this week to make sure.

1. "The Breeze" - Dr. Dog
2. "Changes" - David Bowie
3. "For Our Elegant Caste" - of Montreal
4. "Funny Little Frog" - Belle & Sebastian
5. "Ballad of a Thin Man" - Bob Dylan
6. "How to Disappear Completely" - Radiohead
7. "Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf)" - Pixies
8. "Knives Out" - Radiohead
9. "Guess I'm Doing Fine" - Beck
10. "A Little Better" - Gnarls Barkley
11. "Imagine" - John Lennon
12. "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding?" - Elvis Costello and the Attractions
13. "Theme" (From Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) - Jon Brion
14. "A Day in the Life" - The Beatles

Maybe we can put these into .zip folders and put them on mediafire or something? I don't think we're allowed to link to that kind of stuff here though, right?

Where is My Mind? - The Pixies
Flagpole Sitta - Harvey Danger
Until it Sleeps - Metallica
Interstate Love Song - Stone Temple Pilots
Plush - Stone Temple Pilots
About a Girl - Nirvana
No Excuses - Alice in Chains

That's all I can think of now, it's late and time for bed.

Beetlebum - Blur
The Bends - Radiohead
Live Forever – Oasis
Californication – Red Hot Chili Peppers
Auf Acshe – Franz Ferdinand
Yellow – Coldplay
Dumb – Nirvana
Smile Like You Mean It – The Killers
Dare - Gorillaz
Reckoner - Radiohead
Born On A Different Cloud - Oasis
Let It Be – The Beatles

It's a work in progress and a bit rushed but the final outcome would resemble something like this. It was too hard to pick Radiohead songs as I like them all. So I picked the one of the first ones I listened to (The Bends) and one of the latest (Reckoner). The 13th track is hidden and is Imagine - John Lennon.

The selections near the end of this list get pretty energetic, but I don't have a lot of quieter pieces to balance them out, so I guess it will have to do. These are all pieces that I like and that do a pretty good job of representing me as a person.

"I am Woman" -- Helen Reddy.
"The Aquarium"/"Royal March of the Lion"/"Fossils"/"Finale" -- Camille Saint-Saens, Carnival of the Animals.
"Ride of the Valkyries" -- Richard Wagner, Ring of the Nibelung.
"Wishing on a Star" -- Anne Dudley, The Tenth Kingdom.
"Duel of the Fates" -- John Williams, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
"Escape from the Atmosphere" -- Manheim Steamroller, Fresh Aire V.
"Run Free" -- Hans Zimmer, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimerron.
"Circle of Life" -- Elton John/Tim Rice, The Lion King.
"Dies Irae (Day of Wrath)" -- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Requim.
"Canticle of the Sun" -- St. Francis of Assisi (yes, really, that St. Francis. Best if heard performed live by a good church choir and organist.)
"Dance of the Furies" -- Christoph W. Gluck, Hooked on Classics 3: Journey Through the Classics.
"Wild Montana Skies" -- John Denver.
"Danse Macabre" -- Camille Saint-Saens, various. (Any good intro to Saint-Saens' music should have it.)
"You Raise Me Up" -- Brendan Graham, Celtic Woman.

Here's mine in no particular order.

"Ready to Die" ---Andrew W.K., I Get Wet.
"I'm Good Now" ---Bob Schneider, I'm Good Now.
"Dashboard" ---Modest Mouse, We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank.
"Open Up" ---Dispatch, Who Are We Living For?.
"Hotel Yorba" ---The White Stripes, White Blood Cells.
"Flathead" ---The Fratellis, Costello Music.
"Bad Moon Rising" ---Credence Clearwater Revival, Green River.
"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" ---The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
"The Seeker" ---The Who, Meaty Beaty Big And Bouncy.
"Buddy Holly" ---Weezer, Weezer (aka The Blue Album).
"Bohemian Rhapsody" ---Queen, A Night at the Opera.
"Immigrant Song" ---Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin III.
"Paint It Black" ---The Rolling Stones, Aftermath.
"Dead!" ---My Chemical Romance, The Black Parade.

Man, this is a hard one... Here's one possibility. Here's my mix of melancholy and noise.

I may put together a surrealist psychedelic set list in the future. But this is definitely getting burned to disc.

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised (Gil Scott Heron - Pieces of a Man)
To Forgive (Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness/Dawn to Dusk)
Bron-Y-Aur Stomp (Led Zepplin -III)
April (Deep Purple - self titled)
Mr. Grieves (Pixies - Surfer Rosa)
Castles Made of Sand (Jimi Hendrix - Axis: Bold as Love)
See Emily Play (Pink Floyd - See Emily Play)
Queen of the Highway (The Doors - Morrison Hotel)
Julie's Been Working For The Drug Squad (The Clash - Give 'Em Enough Rope)
**** You (Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness/Dawn to Dusk)
Jesus Built My Hotrod (Ministry - Psalm 69)
Friend of the Devil (Grateful Dead - American Beauty)
