Twentieth (20th) Century Fox Film Corporation has greenlit production on "Captain Planet," based on the popular animated series Captain Planet and the Planeteers and The New Adventures of Captain Planet. The film is due to be released early 2009.

The script is been written by Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris and will be directed by Stefen Fangmeier.

Now that is cool

He thinks he's so much better than me just because he's called "Captain" Planet. Well you know what? I checked some records and it turns out he's not even a real Captain at all.

I'm still the official "Planet"-affiliated public figure around here, and don't anyone forget it.

See, this might actually be good because Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris have actually been involved in a GOOD superhero script --- namely, X-2: X-Men United.

But Captain Planet is cool.

Captain Planet, he's a hero!
Gonna take pollution down to zero
Gonna help him put asunder
Bad guys who like to loot and plunder
(You'll pay for this Captain Planet)
He's got powers magnified
And he's fighting on the planet side!

I didn't even have to Google those lyrics.

Does it scare anyone that I came up with a post-Captain Planet animated series fanfic, where he now lived in a dark and moody world?

CAPTAIN PLANET!

I wonder if they're gonna keep the kid with the Heart ring, he was so useless.

He was about as useful as a ****-flavoured lollipop.

What did he used to do? Didn't he make bad animals turn good or something? Why didn't he just make the bad guys become good guys?

I knew that X-rated cut I had was real.

You should see the unrated version of the X-rated cut...he even ****s the monkey. Its hot.

But seriously, they're actually optioning this as a movie? There is actually a person in the industry who thinks this is a good idea? Wait, don't answer that.

:remembers there's an Ace Ventura 3 movie being made:

His ring wasn't strong enough, in fact I remember their rings running out of power after like three uses, then they called out the deus-ex machina to get their asses out of the fire.

I hope they keep Cap's mullet.

I hope Halle Berry plays Gaia. :p

If the mullet is not green, people will riot in the streets.

I doubt more than 2 or 3 people in the entire world will care at all, let alone enough to "riot in the streets". This is besides the fact that 2 or 3 people (in world-wide terms, or any others for that matter) don't at all qualify as a "riot" anywhere but Canada.

Did anyone else think this thread was going to be a YouTube link to the Robot Chicken skit with Ted Turner yelling "CAPTAIN PLANET!!!"?

You clearly do not understand Captain Planets immovable place as the center of popular culture throughout the entire world.

I have a confession

I made it up  I was expecting someone to of guessed that with "Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris" as writers who just so happened to be the two writers of superman returns

Infact

is the same announcement they made of flash gordon. I just changed a few words and added who it was written by.

Thank you moonmaster. I knew someone would mention that robot chicken episode

This was done to make fun of the fact hollywood is remaking everything they possibly can.

Originally I planned this as an April fools joke but couldn't resist doing it earlier as if i had done it on april 1st everyone would of known.
