Does anyone remember in early 90s, Marvel made bunch of titles set in the year 2099, with future versions of 616 characters like Hulk, Spider-Man, X-Men etc. For those unfamilar with the concept here is some info:

Here is my question, what will the fictional Ultimate universe be like in the future? What would the Ultimate Universe look like if stories were set in the year 2099? Which character's legacy would have the most impact?

One character who could have impact is Ultimate Tony Stark. Perhaps Ultimate 2099 timeline could have updated version of Iron Man 2020:

Here is what I do with the character. In the year 2099 Arno Stark is the great grandson of industrialist/ super hero Tony Stark. Unlike great grandfather who believed to have suffered a brain tumor (which was later proved flase) and used his illness as reason to become a hero and member of the Ultimates, Arno Stark is completely corrupt. Head of the largest corporation in the world Stark-Fujikawa, Arno Stark is one of the most powerful men in the world and he his abused the power in every way one can imagine. Arno used ruthless tactics to force Japan's Fujikawa INC to merge with Stark Enterprises, bullying Congress into reappealing all known anti trust laws. Arno also helped Congressman Edward Kelly into making Congress pass "The Kelly Act" which forces any metahuman in America to become drafted as government soldiers or be sent to prison for life, often they are sent to labs for testings so the government can develop new types of metahuman soldiers. Of course, in recent times the government has become just a puppet of mega corprorations like Stark-Fujikawa, this super human army is more or less Stark's private army. However a group known as "The Followers of Thor" is actively trying to fight Stark-Fujikawa's control, having adopted Ultimate Thor's radical left wing ideals and made it their life's mission to fight against mega corps like Stark-Fujikawa.

Oh.God.No

This would be a horrible horrible idea.

In fact, we should delete this thread, before Marvel got ideas....

Oh come on, I'm not saying that there should ultimate 2099 title, that would be silly. This is the baseless speculation board, I just think it fun if we speculate what the ultimate universe would look like in the year 2099.

I think both ways of looking at it are at least remotely interesting.

I wouldn't mind a more modern re-imagining of what the year 2099 would be with Marvel characters in it would be like. Sort of an "Ultimatization" of the 616 conception of 2099.

The other way of doing it is to "2099-ify" the Ultimate line itself.

Wait.

The Ultimate line is kind of retarded now. Never mind the second idea.

I wouldn't mind if someone did something like marvel 1602...like what if superheroes came about in 17th century...but did it in the future...like what if superheroes came about in year 3000...I mean imagine spiderman and hulk and gallactus...but in a kind of transmetropolitan setting. i don't think it should be an ultimate title or anything like that and since we've already has marvel 2099 and marvel knights 2099, i don't know if we need another 2099 universe

I think this could be unbelievably cool.

If the Ultimate line was "what if Marvel was invented in the 2000s instead of the 1960s?" I think it could be absolutely fascinating to see a comic created with the mindset "What if Marvel was invented in the 2100s instead of the 1960s?". And then, by extension, "What if Marvel was invented in the 1800s instead of the 1960s?" (or even further back).

I think this could be fascinating and truly exhilerating.

:funny:

Mangaverse: "what if marvel wanted to enjoy the success of the manga boom of the early 90s...10 years to late"

House of M "what if marvel was invented in brian bendis's head"
