So the issue starts off with Kitty being introduced to the class, with reactions from classmates. Liz, of course, doesn't like her because she thinks Kitty believes she's superior since she's a mutant with phasing powers. Liz must have forgot she has the incredible power of vanishing from the book for years at a time. Another Flash is gay reference by Kong, but I thought this was cleared up in the detention issue. Jessica Jones might know Peter is Spider-Man.

Peter has a talk with Kitty, apparently she didn't decide to go to the school to be with Peter, but her mom actually moved into the district. Also, she at some point got kicked out of the X-Men after USM 105, but apparently rejoins before the Cable arc, which puts USM way behind the other books and further muddies the Ultimate Power quagmire. Anyway, MJ's hand starts shaking again. More Goblin? I bet she dies in the next arc, which would make Wade Wilson happy, allow Kitty and Peter to get back together, and rescue the Ultimate Power timeline a little.

Spider-Man goes to a meeting with Daredevil, Moon Knight, Iron Fist, and Shang-Chi. Also, Dr. Strange is there (for some reason). They talk about sending Moon Knight in to infiltrate Kingpin as his bodyguard. Spider-Man is funny again.

At the end Iron Fist is revealed to be telling the Knights' plan to Kingpin. Is he a traitor? Probably not. It's probably part of Daredevil's plan. The double-fake. Peter will be mad at him after it's revealed.

So, the new Ronin will either be Moon Knight or Iron First.

Overall, this was pretty good. That's two in a row. But, Bagley was terrible. Just awful. Good riddance!

I thought Bagely was the best he's ever been, to be honest. I liked this issue, and can't wait for the inevitable Clone Saga/ Marvel Knights HC.:D

Well, Iron Fist started off in jail, so I doubt he's ever been on the correct side of law.

Not too surprised to see him ratting people off to the Kingpin

I'm still pissed Bendis screwed up the DeWolfe debacle.

I can't believe Iron Fist is a traitor. He's one of my favorite characters in 616...I really hope he ends up being Ronin or something. If Bendis messes up another Ultimization, I'm going to go crazy. I mean, normally he just ignores stuff that was written by people who aren't him...but now he's ignoring stories that HE wrote himself.

What? How is this established? If its taking place before the other books, how is it confirmed she rejoins in time for the Cable arc?

She says she yelled at Porfessor X about erasing Aunt May's mind, so he kicked her off the team, which is why she's at Peter's school now. So X must still be alive and well in the present, and since she's in Cable as a team member. . .

Still some problems, BUT

while I'm among the first to mock Bendis when he writes with complete ineptitude (see USM 30-104), I should be fair in giving praise also - This issue was pretty good. I liked the dynamic among the 'Knights'. I'm pretty sure that Iron Fist ratting them out is part of the plan, but not entirely sure... so good job.

I'd be pretty happy with USM staying on this track

PS - Peter says 'OY' again....YES AGAIN! If he'd just become an 80-year old Eastern European woman, and start wearing a 'Spider-shawl', this word would befit him better. Until then NO MORE OY!!

still good though

I guess Jessica jones also has a crush on pete.

Ooooh this is getting good

Iron Fist is the traitor huh? Im hoping this is part of Daredevils plans but i'll ait and see how it plays out.

Buy the way...why is Doc Strange there? what he got against Kingpin?

And why didnt matt invite Felicia?

Wow, that's a long time. I would say the real sucking started with Hollywood, so what, 54? I especially liked Venom.

I think the quality started to drop around the Hollywood time, but the full-on suckage didn't start until Deadpool. Even then, it was like "meh, meh, meh, hey that's pretty good maybe Bendis is--crap, MJ goblin, back to the gutter."

I think you both are probably more accurate than me (I?)

I guess when I look back, the only arc that I thought was top notch was 'Legacy' with Green Goblin (and I enjoyed the story up to that... but that arc was amazing). I also 'kind of' enjoyed the Gang War, or whatever it was called. That means I liked about 6 issues out of about 70.

...but hey - I bought 'em. The money BMB gets from fans buys as much as the money from me - what does he care?

There's a difference between enjoying a story and thinking it's high quality.

True. USM is readable...it always has been. As much as I ***** about the issues, I still keep buying them and almost kind of enjoying myself when reading them.

Except for MJgoblin/Doc Octomagnepus. Those were retarded and unreadable.

True enough - I enjoyed some issues, but only found the first 25 or so (Up to, and including Legacy) to be of high quality.

...compare that to

UFF - I enjoyed the first 20 issues - the last 20 have been high quality (IMO)

UXM - The Millar run was high quality. The BKV run was high quality. The rest was enjoyable (IMO)

Ultimates - Every issue is high quality (IMO)

USM has had a MUCH higher stink factor than any or all of the other 3.... but, to put a positive spin on it, its heading in the right direction again (well, for me, anyway :) )

well. read the issue:
It was good, lots of drama: but two complaints:
1) MJ started to get the Goblin hands..and the summary hinted at it not being gone for good. I am seriously worried about MJ's fate in the next arc.
2) This entire issue felt a bit too much like the "Kitty Pryde show", she took up alot of the issue, and I can't see her page time getting less because of who she is. And that is precisely why I am worried about MJ.

That said, the Liz and Kong and Flash stuff was pretty good. Exactly how you'd expect them to react. And Peter finally cleared the air with Kitty. He deserved everything she said to him, but it's out in the open.
And I can't help think if Jessica Jones's picture of Peter gets out with a story about Kitty coming to Midtown, and the connection with Spider-man..given how the Kingpin has seen Peter's face before ( and he pointed in out ) there could be some major deadly trouble for Peter.

Or Jessica has a crush on peter.

Or worst comes to worst she's related to fisk or her mom/Dad works for fisk

Or Jessica has a crush on peter.

I'm gonna have to go out on a limb here and say no.

Yeah...no.

I think with her character being nosey reporter/detective---she's focusing on Peter because any person with a keen eye for detail (or the obvious in this case) can see that Peter was the only one not hyped to see Kitty. I'm guessing her mind is going all Batman and stuff and trying to see the connections.

I don't doubt that she'll put 2 and 2 together and figure out that Peter is Spiderman. But in true USM fashion....she'll get in over her head and Peter will have to save her. And in the end--his secret will be safe with her. For now.

The issue itself was pretty ok. The only gripe is that Bagley is now phoning his work in too. A lot of the art was meh. But there was that one panel of Peter swinging right after he left May. That panel was great. Very detailed. Right colors. The whole thing worked.

Another drawback to the issue. Than one panel of MJ's hand shaking and going all "claw-y". Bendis....I thought we talked about this. I thought we sat down and hand a nice conversation like adults. I thought we both agreed that the MJ-Gobling thing was a horrendous thing and should never be spoken of again. Kinda like John Leguizamo's "The Pest". Isn't that what we agreed? So what's with this panel huh?

2.5/5

okay, this issue was ALOT better than recent USM's, but Bendis ****ed up again in my eyes, you see the issue was good, but he just raped the entire arc by giving away BOTH of the things this arc had going for it A) Ronin's Identity (who people could smell from a mile away anyway)and B) The Traitor (H-O-R-R-B-L-E choice in making it Iron Fist), in the span of 2 pages he wrapped those up, now what else are we supposed to look forward too? seeing whether or not the Kingpin is killed? like that's gonna happen with Peter around (even though i wouldn't be surprised, i mean look at Benbo's track record when it comes to villains they all end up dead or in prison)

and WTH is going on with Bagley? did he break a finger or something?

4/5 for the issue, 0.5/5 for the potential this ish leaves the rest of the arc

and WHY exactly is Doctor Strange there? has he even met the Kingpin?
