Ultimate Spider-Man #107 Discussion (spoilers)

Eh. I dunno...he was thinking to himself that he should just "Jump over and snap Ock's neck" and then blame it on temporary insanity.

You're right... and by the time he was actually able to fight Ock, he knew that Fury was on his side and wasn't going to let Ock get away with it...

I still say that the stuff the Kingpin has done seems kind of weak compared to the clone saga and things Norman did to him in the past. I suspect Kingpin will do something soon to re-establish himself as the baddest of the bad, hence the solicits where Peter gets kidnapped by him and Ronin shows up at his school.

She got into a rebound relationship with a guy who was clearly still pining for the other girl and it imploded. There's no angels in that situation, but Pete's the main character so everybody's siding with him.

No,Its becous he's the boy

Pete is just a man-whore

..

You really gotta these teen dramas

Ok...to settle all these things about Kitty being a "rebound" and other stupid romance quarrels...Peter is a teenager. He was talking (and thinking) about marrying a girl he started dating when he was 15. Now, I'm 16 years old and I don't even remember the names of some of the girls I dated when I was 15. He's not a man-whore or a jerk or anything. He's a kid. High School relationships are infinitely stupid and Peter takes his way too seriously.

I know man

This was all in mindless hijincks

Wouldn't you be just as angry if Bendis had Peter jumping on-board with the 'Let's Murder Kingpin" bandwagon?

No. I think the whole 180 spin on DD suddenly bringing Peter into this is ****in' stupid. I would be happy if Kingpin ****ed with Peter and he realized he should have killed him. This was a very sloppy way to rush DD, Shang-Chi, Iron Fist, MoonKnight, and Doc Strange (who doesn't even want to be there) together.

The addition of Doc Strange is, I think, worthless. My problem with DD's decision to bring Peter into this secret group is that Peter is still a minor. DD is a lawyer, and I doubt he's stupid enough to bring such a young boy into the fold.

It seemed to me like Daredevil is just manipulating Peter, and the whole Iron Fist thing just ties into that.

I think I get way too involved in the science of the Ultimate Universe.

Daredevil is striking me as more of a Batman character in this particular incarnation... a master manipulator, always two steps ahead. And to top it off, his little group might just be a tool for a personal vendetta.

I am enjoying Ultimate Kingpin - he strikes me as a more tragic character. With Vanessa's coma and Jeanne De Wolfe's murder, I think of him as someone who used his intelligence and resources to gain his position, to find any way to revive his wife but ended up in too deep. He plays the role of Criminal Mastermind because he must. Perhaps he took solace with Ms. De Wolfe.

Maybe I'm just thinking about this too much.

And finally, the Mary/Kitty dynamic is icing on the cake for me. Let Peter be fickle... he's in f---ing High School.

****!!!

Just when it looked like there was a glimmer of hope!

Well, unless they go any further into it I guess she could be lying because she isn't ready to talk about the Professor's death. Or maybe that did happen, but she hadn't left until after Cable. . . I don't know. As a one off reference it could be explained away.

True. I'll have to read the actual issue (picking it up tomorrow), and of course the following issues of both USM and UXM to see if this is addressed. Though I'd been planning on it anyway, so no harm done. ;)

I feel really bad for her... by this title's canon, she lost her boyfriend, her team, her home and everybody she knew, all because he still loved MJ and she got caught in the backlash of the Clone Saga aftermath. Now, the first day in a new school, she's worried about being picked on or even attacked, she's probably thinking "Hey, maybe it won't be so bad, maybe I won't see him" and she walks into homeroom and he's right there with MJ and then everyone starts crowding her and making racist comments and bringing it up and he can't even look at her. I'd be pissed, too.

Word is bond.

Did any one see that scene in the hospital with Aunt May, where there were flowers with a message saying 'get well soon, Miles'. Another reference to the mysterious Miles Warren, maybe we will be seeing ultimate Jackel soon.

I did not notice that.

Interesting, if true.

"There are no chicken wings."

I can't tell if that is hilarious or ridiculously stupid.

I was going to rant about Iron Fist being the traitor (apparently anyway) but it's too early to start that. I'll give it a chance.

I'm with MwoF in that I don't like DD actively recruiting people to help him with some clandestine operation like this. ESPECIALLY Spider-Man. It's totally out of character.

The scene at the school with the kids asking Kitty questions was awkward and poorly done. Her running off and Peter talking to her was a little better.

Very meh.

The problem with Ultimate Daredevil is that he hasn't much of a character to go out of.

That's true. But I always thought of 616 DD as a guy who became a lawyer cuz he wanted to bring people down by the book, and wouldn't be the sort of guy to just kill people. Isn't that exactly the point in the first mini, where Elektra wants to kill the rapist! DD tells her not to it's not the right way. So I want an explanation. Either show us what changed his mind, or make this all some sort of bluff, to play the knights.

and quick question, have they actually called themselves ultimate knights, or were they gonna remain nameless. It sounds alright as the name of an arc, but i don't think if I was gonna put together a group of vigilantes it would be top of my list.
