yes. we know they get paid for writing something initially. what they are striking for is to ensure they get a share of internet downloads, which they AREN'T getting paid for now. they are trying to make sure they are taken care of in the new contracts for a medium that is fast becoming the MAIN source of revenue for entertainment properties. the line between movie theatres, television, and the net is growing smaller all the time. writers ultimately make their living, their pensions, their HEALTH INSURANCE off of rerun residuals and royalties. there is no stipulation for pay for internet right now. if they don't fight now, then all they will ever make is the initial payment on a script. and for most members of the WGA, who are NOT big money makers in Hollywood, this will not be nearly enough to support themselves on.
