The Happening

Re: The Happening... M. Night's "Cloverfield"?

That poster reminds me of Stand, where they heroes are walking away from Las Vegas after blowing it up, and there's a bunch of cars along the road, abandoned.

Re: The Happening... M. Night's "Cloverfield"?

I think every car has the door open meaning people escaped , however the guy in the beetle has the door clossed meaning either

a) he died in car
b) he was fleeing for his life but still took the time to lock up his car in case it was stolen.
c)Is retarded and is inside the car thinking it's just a traffic jam they'll move soon

Re: The Happening... M. Night's "Cloverfield"?

Oh God, I hope M. Night redeems himself with this and becomes great and respected again. His first three films are some of my favourite movies ever.

I don't care what you say, I liked Lady in the Water (though M. Night's character was annoying.)

But I must say, I'm looking forward to his Avatar movie more then this.

This is weird, I was just thinking about how great a director M. Night is. Story and character aside, the way his movies are filmed and edited is brilliant.

Also how is this his Cloverfield?

Re: The Happening... M. Night's "Cloverfield"?

I remember Goodwill made the previous thread about this that turned into a general discussion on his movies.

It looks interesting.

He couldn't have picked a stupider name for a movie.

"Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes" would like to test your theory as would "Killer Clowns from Outer Space"

Re: The Happening... M. Night's "Cloverfield"?

I'd even throw "The Molemen" in there. :)

Racist :x Next you'll be leaving little burning crosses next to mole hills.

Re: The Happening... M. Night's "Cloverfield"?

That poster is bothering me. Why would you abandon your cars if there are so few people on the road? It looks less like a mass exodus and more like normal traffic. Look, they even took time to pull over properly, except for the mysteriously flipped-over car in the foreground. Is it not supposed to be a mass exodus? Did the interiors of cars somehow become dangerous? Or is the implication that people are leaving their cars to look at at something happening? Considering the film title, I'm betting on the latter.

Re: The Happening... M. Night's "Cloverfield"?

I don't care what anybody says, I think The Happening is a groovy title.

*grooves*

It's happening!

Re: The Happening... M. Night's "Cloverfield"?

What's bothering me more is that there still isn't a reason for the thread to say "M. Night's "Cloverfield"?"
I guess whoever approved such a thread title was thinking 'iconoclastic filmmaker's hush hush project in which a city-wide disaster happens but we're not going to tell you why so we can amp up the hype-o-meter.'

Which is a nonsense comparison, I think. Someone ought to change this thread title, stat.

I'm really very interested in both these films actually, but I think the hype as perpetuated on an individual level is kind of obnoxious.

Re: The Happening... M. Night's "Cloverfield"?

You guys get way too uppity about thread titles sometimes. It should be changed soon so we can have a regular news/spec thread about it, but it was a fair enough surface comparison to start with.
