Avengers New Avengers: The Trust discussion (#32-37 +Annual 2; spoilers)

Re: New Avengers: The Trust discussion (#32+; spoilers)

#37 was ok...kind of a wimpy end to the arc. We find out The Hood is a demon (or demon possessed) - is that it?

I guess it's pretty impressive that he broke all of the villains out again after the NA had rounded them up, but I guess I was kind of hoping for more Skrull revelations.

Robbins took the Hood from A Demon..

If anything it mean he's truning into one.

But he's not a demon.

Re: New Avengers: The Trust discussion (#32+; spoilers)

I think Hood should've proven that he could and would break his buddies out of jail before he had all those people following him around. I might've bought that anyone, much less real supervillains, would listen to his sales pitch if they knew that he'd have their backs if it went downhill. Unfortunately, it seems that dozens of supervillains who ridiculously overpowered him listened to him because he "has a hood." Bad show.

This is the new Kingpin? Does anyone else feel like there's a bit of retrogression here? I mean Wilson Fisk was pretty much powerless and that's what made him interesting over superpowered villains through his use of political and financial power. Now Marvel thinks it would be "kewl" to replace him with a superpowered villain? Am I missing something?

Like I just said, he hasn't protected his boys until this point. What evidence did they have that he wouldn't use them as cannon fodder and let them rot in jail?

I don't remember him giving them money, but I'll take your word for it. That just means he hired them. Their loyalty isn't with him. He isn't the head of an army. This is no proof of leadership skills and wouldn't earn him the respect of any major players. Congratulations, Hood, you can pay people to beat **** up just like everyone else who can scrape up the cash. How does this make him at all unique and impressive? How does that make him like the Kingpin?

I don't think he's smart. Prove to me that he's smart. Give me one good example of him making a cunning plan that worked because it was smart, not because of writer fiat.

I guess what Bendis was going for was Hood buying a miniature mercenary army, showing intense loyalty and good leadership, and earning the trust and respect of his underlings as he quickly gains more territory in the criminal underworld, but the ridiculous shots of dozens of supervillains going slack-jawed at his brilliant "Because I have a hood" speech is just... no. No good.

Read the hoods mini the man is smart.

The man also has Charisma convincing em all to join him kinda like hitler the man knows what to say and when to say it.

And the Tigra thing was also him taking care of his boys. She messed with Jigsaw and all.

You're right, but the idea isn't that he is taking over the Kingpin's job, but rather he's becoming a Kingpin of Supervillains. (I think I haven't read any of the issues)

More like ''Godfather'' of supervillains.

He also has a little Alcapone in him with his promises of taking care of their families and all.

If he's smart, then we shouldn't have to rely on another writer's vision of him from a mostly forgotten miniseries to know this. If he's going to be a principal villain in New Avengers, then Bendis should show us why he's so damn dangerous. And he hasn't.

That's what happens when less talented writers take control of a better writer's creations.

So what, a lot of these villains are supposed to geniuses as well (like the Wizard) so why would they all serve him?

It seems like these villains jobbing to the Hood to make him look cooler. Besides Hood and maybe Jigsaw, none of these villains have displayed any personality in this group. They all come off as minions, instead of characters with their own personality.

It be easy and far more interesting to give these villains some personality and have some group interaction. Some of the thug villains would be impressed with the hood because of intelligence and the fact that he is a product of the streets, however others should have their own agendas:

Wizard could be the "starscream" of the group, secretly planning on overthrowing the Hood after he has done all the leg work, Purple Man as the scary psycho everyone kinda dislikes and who has only joined the group for kicks, Jonas Harrow as the one who is merely interested in pursuing his agenda of advancing his own bizarre experiments and stays loyal because he believes the resources from this group will help in this cause, etc.

This group should be far more interesting than the way Bendis writes them. This group is completely unimpressive.

I think there are a couple more illuminati that are skrulls. I think Xavier is one of them. I think Dr. Strange & Iron Man are clean. Sub Mariner is a question?
Nick Fury is underground, is he collecting so called dead heroes for this secret invasion. Did Xavier push Wanda over the edge???? Quicksilver is another canidate of replaced hero. I also think the wasp could be one who let slip about Wandas children. I'm sure there are more clues out there. What do you think ???

welcome wdw!

Xavier being a skrull would be a believable and interesting twist. He could have easily been replaced after House of M.

Re: New Avengers discussion (#1-20; spoilers)

i suspect Tigra will soon be a new member of the New Avengers.

Will Hood's gang still be completely unimpressive in this issue?
