The Dark Knight Videogame?

Sounds like they're taking their time to make the game as memorable and as epic as the movie.

I thought it was weird how they didn't have a game for the movie... Now that there will be one, I'll definitely get it.

How I'd love some version of The Ultimate Batman Game. God knows we won't get it, but still.

This movie is perfectly suited to a videogame as well. You could arguably say that there actually wouldn't be much need to put an awful lot of extra scenarios in the game that didn't happen in the movie, because of the sheer amount of action scenes the movie had to offer.

EDIT: I've just realised that in the "What we're talking about" column, this thread's title looks indistinguishable from the one about the movie. Could a Mod change it to 'TDK Game' or 'Dark Knight game' or something, to avoid confusion?

Wasn't there reports this was going to be exclusive for 360? I read that a while ago

I really liked the Begins game, can't wait to see how this turns out

Same here.

...You do know that most games based on movies end up sucking right?

I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Every. Single. Time. Somebody even casually brings up anything to do with a months-away game based on a movie we're all excited for, somebody says has to make this exact same comment.

YEAH, as it so happens, WE DO KNOW.

But you know what else? There have also been some ****ing legendary ones, like Spider-Man 2 and Return of the King and mother****ing GOLDENEYE(not to mention that I love Spidey 1, really like the Begins game and could move myself to tears reminiscing about Chamber "free-roaming Hogwarts" of Secrets for Gamecube).

A game's a game, no matter where it comes from, and if it's obvious they're putting time and effort into it, it has as much chance as most games to be great.

They also put alot of time and effort to Superman return's game and it sucked.

Yeah but it was based on a film that sucked.

That's like been surprised the Catwoman game wasn't like prince of persia.

Yes, but no talent. There are a bunch of really good movie based game, so to automatically write this one off was one of those when the previous game was really good is pretty dumb

I say wait and see. Oldman sounded like they wanted to make it a free form Batman man game, where he could glide from building to building. That sounds really cool, if you ask me. Especially if they have a segment in a free form Hong Kong, too.

The Joker chase scene of Harvey Dent in this game better be completely epic.

The fact is it's always a toss-up as to whether a game will be good or not. Plenty of time and effort can go into making some truly ****-stain games and sometimes, great games can come out of nothing but a lot of random ideas thrown into a computer.

Saying that a movie-game's quality is parallel to its silver screen counterpart is just so hopelessly retarded it makes my head ache with a searing pain. Superman Returns: The Videogame had almost zilch to do with the film and that's not even why it wasn't any good. How anyone can say that the game was bad because the film was bad is beyond me. If you play Spider-Man 2, you'll notice that it's very different from the movie and has its own interesting sub-plots and action sequences and succeeds in exciting the player. It's not a good game because the movie was good. The game didn't set out to make you feel like you were in the movie. It set out to make you feel like you were Spider-Man and it succeeded. In fact, I think I probably enjoyed the game more than I enjoyed the movie.

Another reason why Mole's comment is bogus is that the game-makers only get very vague snippets of the movie (mostly concept art, shooting scripts and the same trailers we see) when it's being made. There's a reason why the Spider-Man 2 game is far more similar in style to the first Spider-Man movie and why the Spider-Man 3 game is more similar in style to Spider-Man 2 the movie. So...once again, you can't blame Superman Returns' crappiness on your opinions of the movie, because the game-makers didn't even get that good a look at the movie while most of the game was being made.

Finally, while Batman Begins was probably an uninspired game that didn't push any boundaries and held the player's hand the whole way through; it was FUN (something that many 'great games' of today sorely lack) and I felt more like Batman than I have in any other game before. If this new game is as entertaining as the last, I'll be quite satisfied. But in the mean time, I'm very much entitled to dream about The Dark Knight Videogame being the greatest free-roaming superhero game ever, with full access to all of Batman's weaponry, vehicles and costumes as well as Bruce Wayne's wealth, as I take down the mob of Gotham City as well as various supervillain crazies. For more information about what this game should be, ask Zombipanda.

Thank you and good night.

But Gothamite the thing to take in to consideration is most movies that are **** the games will be **** as the movie was made to make money only and not be a good film. When it comes to the games they just don't care really as they think "well it'll sell, no need to make it good"

Look at these :

Catwoman , crap movie --- crap game

Superman returns , crap movie --- crap game

Star wars episode I , crap movie ---- crap game (the first game on psone)

Godfather , Great movies --- Good game

Spider-man 2 , Good movie --- Good game

Now while good movies can produce crap games (ET anyone?) good movies have a much higher % of making good games than crap movies. That is a fact.

Please Mole...

Even if you don't like Superman Returns...don't say that it was a movie that was only made to make money, because it blatantly was not. It had far more heart and soul in it than the last four Marvel movies that were made. You just didn't like it.

And also...you're logic is still flawed. You could say that a game based on the Dark Knight will definitely sell, so therefore "no need to make it good," once again. It's exactly the same argument.

It's a toss-up.

No, it's not. It's something you decided. Fight Club, The Matrix, RoboCop, Jaws, Batman, Superman and many, many other "good" movies have crap games to their names.

First remaking the first movie and ignoring everything about the character e.g his weakness to kyrptonite. And pretty effects does not = more heart.

Now the dark knight thing. No it's not a case of
a game based on the Dark Knight will definitely sell, so therefore "no need to make it good,"
As they showed they care about their movie and their franchise and so are more likely to try harder.

I didn't say NO good movie has a bad game. I even said they do.

I said compare how many good games there are based on good movies to how many good games there are based on crap movies. You'll see it's a much higher number of good games for good movies.

Infact I can not think of 3 good games based on crap movies.

It seems to be I could argue with you for hours about Superman Returns' merits (while still acknowledging that it's outrageously flawed) and you'd STILL come back to the Kryptonite thing.

Back on topic.

I want every Batman suit ever, available to me in this game. And I don't just want classic colours painted over the new movie suit like in the last game. I actually want a different character design for every single suit; similar to what they did in the Iron Man game (although I haven't played that).

Actually I have more but since this isn't the thread I left off it as I've noted the flaws before.

If they did that they should do what Spider-man did. In the first movie's game you could unlock alex ross's spider-man and it made goblin look like alex ross's goblin design.

So say we get 90's then Joker should look like Joker from that time.
