Variety is reporting Thursday that the Sid & Marty Krofft 1970's Saturday morning property Sigmund and the Sea Monsters is being developed as a feature film by Universal.

A script for the film will be written by The Simpsons writer-producer Dana Gould.

Produced by the Kroffts and Jimmy Miller under his Mosaic banner, this is the second property the producing partners have set-up at Universal. The other - the $100 million Will Ferrell vehicle Land of the Lost - has completed production and is set for a June 2009 release.

Another Krofft brothers property, H.R. Pufnstuff, is in development as a big-screen feature at Sony.

 Puppets are the new superheroes.

*crosses fingers for new Muppet franchise*

* looks at Muppets From Space * You forgot "That doesn't suck."
Ahmet Zappa and Brian Henson are developing new Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock and Dark Crystal franchises.

I want a new Muppet Show so god damned badly. ****. I want the old Muppet Show on DVD. And the late 90s one. I like that one too.
And Jason Segel is writing the next muppet movie.

Hrmmm...

Everytime I see those I almost pick them up and never do.

Those DVDs contain my childhood. I must have them.

I'm going to stop by and borrow them then.

._.

I will need collateral.

Dood... seriously, buy them, the nostalgia alone is worth it, but the bonus features are great.

Damn, you Skotti.... turning my wicked awesome Sid & Marty Kroft thread into a Jim Henson thread.

I will never forgive you.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to the Secret Saturdays.

Muppets are great too.
