Variety is reporting Thursday that the Sid & Marty Krofft 1970's Saturday morning property Sigmund and the Sea Monsters is being developed as a feature film by Universal.

A script for the film will be written by The Simpsons writer-producer Dana Gould.

Produced by the Kroffts and Jimmy Miller under his Mosaic banner, this is the second property the producing partners have set-up at Universal. The other - the $100 million Will Ferrell vehicle Land of the Lost - has completed production and is set for a June 2009 release.

Another Krofft brothers property, H.R. Pufnstuff, is in development as a big-screen feature at Sony.
