Best and worst versions of the future in comics

God, there's just so many...

Obviously Miller's Dark Knight Future is pretty cool, although I'd prefer Batman to have a happier future, where he finally succeeds in what he sets out to accomplish. I feel the same way about Batman Beyond.

Those are all I can think of right now. I'll try to post my opinions on some others, later on.

Earth X. Pure awesome.

Hulk: The End was pretty great.

It was also the only comic in The End brand that actually ended with THE END.

Isn't it interesting that 9 times out of 10, the future really sucks? Its either a dystopian dictatorship, a cyber punk nightmare or everything is run by a psychotic super villain and there's a 50/50 chance that a nuclear holocaust has already occured.

There is never a future filled with pink bunny rabbits.

I'm pretty sure I've come across a future --- maybe not in comics --- that was filled with pink bunny rabbits.

It was, however, dystopic nonetheless.

The nuclear fallout/pollution/whatever was probably why they were pink in the first place.

Best : 2000 AD. The vision of the future is just so well thought out and the world is so complex that it's the best future done in comics ever and most likely always will be.

Simple answer; there are better stories to tell with an apocalyptic future.

Truth. Also, most utopias are presented as anti-utopias, meaning that they are only perfect on the surface: the consequence of their perfection is usually something that constricts the people.
