Rise of the Planet of the Apes

I love James Franco, but...

I cannot take him seriously anymore.

I honestly think this will be the biggest bomb of the summer.

Agreed. I'm a little interested, but this must've had a huge budget, and I can tell there's no way it's going to generate anywhere near as much interest as it would need not to bomb. This would probably still apply even if we didn't know the apes win, but with that a foregone conclusion I think this one's finished.

Plotwise, there's 7 billion humans in the world and if I remember right, less than ten thousand of the other three Great Apes put together. They will probably have some loophole for this like the apes creating a virus or something though.

It looks interesting enough to me to give it at least one view. Then if I see it again, it'd likely be "one of those nights" where there's nothing good on and this just happens to be on one of the movie channels.

I just love how there's now an entire movie devoted to ruining the shock ending of the original Planet of the Apes (which I've still never bothered to see, because the ending is so completely spoiled, millions of times over in dozens of pop culture references, for my generation).

I guess no one really complained about the Star Wars prequels in that regard.

I wish this was just 127 Hours but with James Franco's free arm handcuffed to an ape.

Dude... this is a reboot. The four sequels of the original PLANET OF THE APES essentially detail how Earth turns into the Planet of the Apes. The first ape was called Caesar too. I think it involved the main apes of the original travelling back to '73 and jumpstarting their own race, not a science experiment like this one. But yeah, ever since that first film, the whole "explaining the super-twist" is all the franchise has been about. The story of Charlton Heston's character and what happens seems to interest no one. There are never any prequels about him, only "how did they blow it up? Damn you! Damn you all to hell!" and so forth.

Saw this, having seen none of the other films. A really terrific, heart-warming science fiction drama. There's barely even any action in it, but that doesn't stop it from being tense, thrilling and awesome.

Andy Serkis keeps reminding me why CGI is a good thing for cinema. 10/10

I agree. This is my favorite movie of the summer.

I've seen a lot of very favorable reviews for it.

Me too. I'll be checking it out. Brian Cox and John Lithgow kinda make it worthwhile on their ownsome.

I want to see this I really do. I only have one small problem. In trailers the apes look too cgi/fake. I loved how great they looked in the burton film but this one I'm kinda very aware i'm looking at a cgi monkey and so I fear that may distract.

BUT i'm still excited for this to come to bluray

Did you enjoy KING KONG? Because while I felt that film was bloated, the ape was great. I'm sure it'll be like that.

The apes look fantastic in the film. It's some of the best CGI I've seen.

I did not enjoy that.

and cool might just be trailers. In trailers they looked too smooth and shiny like it was cgi and not real. But i as i said i want to see the film as cgi does not make a movie. It was just a small thing with me that can be easily accepted.
