The Apple Products Thread

I hope I get something like this:

God I loved that part. Can we call you Shark-bait now?

OS X Lion - I like. It's smoother than Snow Leopard and I like how the full screen apps behave similar to iOS.

I'm really struggling with the "corrected" scrolling, though. I know it's technically more correct but it feels very backward and after a day I haven't made any progress with it.

You can turn off Natural Scrolling if you want.

I just got an iPad2. Any apps to recommend? I'm thinking of getting iThoughts.

I could recommend a TON of stuff, but what kind of thing are you looking for? Games? News?

My favorites are Scrabble (I play with my parents all the time) - it's about $10 but if you wait they run sales all the time and you can get it for about $3 or even $1 depending on the sale, ComicZeal (about $5-6 I think) - lets you load and read CBR and CBZ format comics, USA Today, CNN (both free), Skype (free), Angry Birds (price varies by version), and the ComiXology & Marvel apps. IM+ Pro is a good instant messaging app. The Cartoon Network app lets you watch CN shows for free. Availability/pricing on these might be different in your area.

I mainly use mine for reading comics and watching movies.

I actually just jailbroke my iPad so I could get the iPad version of the Facebook app. I also installed MobileNotifier to get the iOS5 style notifications (they don't pop up and interrupt what you're doing - they display briefly in the upper corner non-obtrusively). I'll restore when iOS 5 comes out.

What E said.

I also got SoundHound, Netflix and UrbanSpoon.

In related news, getting a high end 27" iMac this weekend. First new desktop I've gotten myself in about 5 years.

I foresee getting an iMac in the near future for the kids for school.

I've decided my next laptop will be a MacBook Air. Probably next fall.

I still am not sure what I'm going to end up using my iPad for, but I think it will be for mindmapping and word processing. I wonder if Final Draft has an app...

Also, Jaggyd I have a 21.5" iMac and it is luverly.

I am almost positive I heard that there is an iPad version of Final Draft. Released not too long ago, if I'm not mistaken.

3.1GHz Quad Core i5, 4GB RAM, Radeon 6970M (2GB RAM model), 1TB HDD

Going to retire my old Aluminum 20" iMac to a local school

Hey E, got any tips on jail breaking? Is it worth it if I mainly use it for comics, movies, facebook and web surfing with the occasional game.

Watch PRISON BREAK and THE GREAT ESCAPE. Definitely THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION too. Should help.

If you are running iOS 4.3.3 or earlier you can just go to the website jailbreakme.com on your device in Safari and jailbreak from there. Super easy.

I'm probably not the best person to ask about it beyond that. I'm not a huge jailbreaking expert or advocate. The only reason I did it is because there is a setting tweak that "unlocks" the iPad version of the Facebook app. Once iOS 5.0 is out I will be restoring.
