Nova's back! and that's the complete extent of the good news

I guess it's Nova's turn to be completely ruined by this horrible horrible creative team

****

and that costume is boring and it pales in comparison to his Annihilation era suit

god damnit I'm so crest fallen, Nova's been my favorite character for years now but it looks like this is where I get off. It was a nice ride well it lasted. Giffen and DnA took Nova and did the impossible and turned a "Kyle Rayner" and turned him into a "Hal Jordan". Who knows where Loeb will take him but it certainly won't be progress.

maybe thats Malik Tarcell or Garthan Saal as the villainous Supernova but it doesn't change the names on that teaser

Bummer. I'm not a huge Nova fan and don't really buy anything featuring him (aside from the Annihilation hardcovers - I did buy those) but I doubt I'll even bother reading this.

How is Loeb continuing to get work? I don't understand. The reviews on his work are horrible - whether he sells or not I can't believe Marvel would be willing to subject themselves to long-term damage his work causes as far as customer reception.

No, he sells. And that's more important than what critics think. And I agree with that assessment. If I was running Marvel, I'd like to think I'd try to understand why everyone can so hate his work yet it sells, but if I didn't have the time or the inclination to solve that dichotomy, I would trust sales over critic reviews every time.

Critics are an audience just like everyone else, and they can be as wrong and biased as those we decry for buying the comic.

That is, if his books actually sell. I haven't seen the figures and I assume they do, but I'm not certain that's the case. I think it's less that Loeb writes them and more that he has incredible artists draw splash pages of superheroes fighting each other. If Loeb was given a substandard artist, his comics wouldn't sell (as I believe is the case for the times he's worked with Rob Liefeld), while we know from experience, that simply isn't true for people like Grant Morrison or Alan Moore. They sell no matter who draws it.

Nova has apparently lost his legs and is wearing Shredder's helmet.

OK.

I dunno, i like McGuinness.

Anyway, cheer up. That might be a completely new Nova.

I don't, and about as much as Loeb for writing.

I kinda do and don't like McGuiness' art. There's aspects about it's cartoony, chunky, toy-like style I really enjoy, but it looks... vacant almost. Characters don't seem to interact with their surroundings, it lacks an internal reality, and it lacks subtlety which would be fine for say, 300, but not appropriate for something like Clark Kent who doesn't work if he looks like a bodybuilder. Maybe I like his art but not his choices? I'm not sure.

I do not like this.

Damn. There goes my idea of a awesome Starlord/Nova comic of them traveling through the multiverse trying to get back to 616.

And it can't be a new Nova, Ryder took the entire Nova Force upon him when he and Starlord faced Thanos.

They could say the force went to a new host after Ryder died.

Who knows? It's a one shot anyway. This isn't the only point on teaser either btw.

I'd highly recommend the rest of the post Annihilation era stuff, maybe not the last arc or so of Nova though it kinda lagged in that Sphinx arc

Loeb continues to get work cause he has a contract, also he sells like gangbusters despite the fact that he writes for six year olds

Nova has apparently lost his legs
They've always done that to play into the "human rocket" line

I dunno, i like McGuinness.
and you would be wrong, categorically: He draws like it's for coloring books, he lacks compositional skills, sucks at panelling, no natural sense of scaling, anatomy or perspective. He's terrible is what I'm getting at

Anyway, cheer up. That might be a completely new Nova.
and thats better how? they've spent the last five years building up Richard Rider as a solid character, and they've set themselves up with the chance to make a hell of a return. Why would they flush that all down the toilet to start over with a new character when they don't need one? this would fall into the same territory as Black Panther becoming the new man without fear, sure they could do it but WHY?

I don't, and about as much as Loeb for writing.
Bingo
Cool for you bro. :)
Don't do that

He's definitely got a character set that he can pull off, big muscle bound bruisers. which Nova does not fall into at all he's the human rocket not a friggin sledgehammer

precisely, NOTHING of the Nova force nor the Worldmind was in the 616 universe when the fault collapsed, and if the Nova force could travel between dimension the worldmind (wich is Ko-Rel who has an attachment to Rider) would have certainly brought Richard AND Peter over

Yes and the other teaser is teasing what Bendis will be doing in one of his Avengers books. Other creative teams listed for the story include the Defenders team, the Red Hulk team, etc. This is hinting at what these writers will be doing in 2012, wether this means Nova's coming back in Avengers X-Sanction, his own series, or something else completely it doesn't matter. He's coming back and Loeb's involved and thats disgusting

Also either Rider's gotten a demotion or this team is already demonstrating their ignorance to continuity. the four pronged star helmet means your a Nova Denarian, wich is like the middle child of the Nova Corps. While he still has the Centurion starburst pattern on his chest.

But that's a little nitpicky

Yes, this. Particularly the scaling issue. And I like the "draws for coloring books" quip - I can totally see that.

Don't do that

Yeah, Venom Melendez. That was pretty lame.

You really need to watch how you reply to people, Venom Melendez. The only one taking things too seriously is you. I've noticed you've really gotten a bit hostile in talking to others and that needs to stop right now.

No one was being mean to you or telling you can't have your own opinion. You should know the replies made is just a way others mess around with each other.

Don't worry, I'll tell him.

Venom! Stop having opinions, you prick!

I don't think i was being hostile. But i apologize in either case. I'm sorry guys.

Still, this Nova thing is just a one shot, so i don't think anyone needs to worry too much.

Well.... It looks like they're seeding a lot of these "point ones". They released the teaser for another one that suggests an Ultron event project from Bendis and Hitch, and they're hyping these as the new direction for 2012.

It sounds to me like Loeb might be guiding the cosmic Marvel boat for the near future...

Or it could be tied to the Avengers: X-Sanction story(Since it's also by Loeb/ McGuinnes). In which case, it could be a Nova from another timeline or something.
