Batman: Arkham City (spoilers!)

argh I want to play this so bad, I have it but I can't because I still have to finish Asylum and I have nooooo tiiiimme

stupid school, stupid work, stupid life I WANNA PLAY BATMAN

What I love about this game is that you don't play Batman, you BE Batman. I'm done the main story, and I'm still having a blast just zipping around the city, taking out thugs and completing side quests. It makes me feel so much like I *am* Batman that I'm tempted to call this game the ultimate in superhero escapism, surpassing even the spider-man games (some of which I felt captured being spider-man pretty darn well).

The only ones I'm having trouble with are the AR Training (It's so hard!) and the serial killer
Hush
missions. I even found another one of his victims but it won't let me scan the area or even mentions that its another one of his victims.

Yeah, this can be annoying. Same thing happened to me with the Deadshot missions. You'd follow the trajectory, but the actual location where Deadshot takes the shots from is usually a ways before the end of the trajectory line. The Hush ones I'm about 50% done with, but I found another last night, so it seems to be working ok. The Augmented Reality missions are a *****. I have 3 more to do and they'll probably be the last things I complete in the game due to their difficulty.

The
Azrael
parts were awesome teasers for the next game but I've yet to find the Harley hint.

The Azrael stuff was cool, and a complete surprise...hadn't heard anything about it until I found him the first time. Harley's
pregnancy test
is in the Steel Mill, nearby her costume from Arkham Asylum.

Also, the "hidden room" in this game is located
on the Falcone boat, the boat nearest the ocean (east side of the map) north of the Steel Mill and Industrial District. You need to use your Cryptographic Sequencer and first spell out "Arkham Terror" then change the first word to "City of" to read "City of Terror". You won't know the Sequencer will work, you just have to do it while standing on the raised door on the front of the boat (southern-most door on the deck).
Also, Scarecrow's mask is on top of the roof of the nearby bridge for a Riddle answer (which ties into this secret room).

Also: Did anyone else think that some of the more fantastical fights like with Ra's, Mad Hatter and
Clayface
act as testing grounds for Rocksteady to do a fantastical superhero game like Superman or Wonder Woman? I think those boss battles and Batman's upgraded gliding system proved they could do games for those characters justice.

I was thinking that. A Superman game (lighter in tone) in this gameplay style would be epic, though the combat would need to be paired down or adjusted, since Supes doesn't fight like a ninja. Still, I would definitely pre-order any future super-hero games Rocksteady puts out.

That's actually a very interesting thought. We do know that they're doing another DC game in the future. (My guess is Superman or the Flash.)

They've said they're working on another DC game? Sweet!

Also, am I the only one who loves that the final boss fight takes place
in the theatre where Bruce and his parents saw Zorro
?

Loved that. It was alluded to earlier in the alley behind the theater where his parents were killed. Can't remember if it was Joker or Hugo Strange who said it, but it said something like "It'll end where it all began".

There have been rumors that WB/DC is looking at using Rocksteady as their main game developers.

Can't blame them, they've shown they know how to make a fantastic super-hero game, both in gameplay and story.

I wouldn't be surprised if they release a Superman game to coincide with The Man of Steel.

Good point.

Well there are spikes on her knuckles but I was more noting how they thought it just wasn't 'edgey enough'.

Can anyone tell me how we alternate the "skins" or character appearances? I know I've got the Animated Series versions of Robin and Catwoman, and several others besides, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to change to those other skins. Tried it on the main menu and the in-game menu and couldn't find it in either menu... can someone help me out with this?

The Nightwing DLC comes out on Nov. 1st. See Nightwing in action.

You can only use the skins in the Challenge Maps IIRC.

Also, forgot to mention, the soundtrack is amazing. As much as I'm not a fan of Coheed & Cambria, their track is pretty good too.

Ah ok. I'll try tonight when I get home. Thanks.

I'm loving the Main Theme from the game (score) by Nick Arundel. I like it even better than any of Elfman's or Zimmer's/Howard's from the movies. Its my new favorite Batman theme.

And after you beat the game with new game +

Also note apparently catwoman's skin changes to match batman's in new game+, As if you use TAS batman TAS catwoman is chosen for you :)

So can't wait for TAS skin via dlc so i can do that.

So I finished the story and the all the side missions. All the riddles and AR stuff.

I don't know how good I can do on the challenge maps.

But lots of set up for future games. Hush, Black Mask, Harley, and Azrael.

A fantastic Batman game and just plain game. But still not the perfect Batman game.

I also finished the main story and all side missions/Riddler Trophies and Catwoman stuff. Fantastic. I'll definitely be playing the Challenge Maps for as many medals as possible (for achievements), and will give New Game + a playthrough before AC - Revelations comes out.

The side missions were fun diversions from the main game, with a nice variety and momentum all their own. The Hush, Deadshot, and Mr. Freeze missions are great due to the detective aspects, as well as tying in main Batman villains to the story. The Physical Challenges and AR Challenges were both interesting and frustrating (the AR by the Steel Mill took me about 3 dozen attempts before accomplishing it).

Also really enjoyed the different approaches to moving around the city and combat between Batman and Catwoman (as well as Robin in the Challenge Maps...looking forward to seeing how Nightwing plays). Also, I'm hoping (though not expecting) we get some more story based missions as DLC. Like the Catwoman episodes, a Robin or Nightwing based series of self-contained missions which acts as a side story to the events in the main game (again, just like the Catwoman missions) would be fantastic...

As ToG said, lots of set up for the next game, Azrael, Hush, Harley, and don't forget Scarecrow and Croc.

I'm very happy with the game. Good story, great gameplay, 'nuff said. I think it definitely deserves a 10/10, and can't wait to see what Rocksteady brings to the table in a future game.

Visited Calender Man for Halloween. I'm wondering if they're doing one of these conversations a month or if they're closer together so it doesn't take a full year.

So, I was about 50% done with the story mode when it wiped out all my data.

Pro tip: Always exit out to the title screen before you quit or this stupid mother****ing game may delete all your mother****ing progress...

I finished all the AR missions in my new game, though. Pain in the ass and you don't get anything for it. Suuuuuuuuck.

Really???? Even I knew that. And I'm not a huge gamer. :D

Just downloaded the Nighwing pack. Good combat system. Now I wish they had made him for part of the main storyline.
