The Music Thread : It's So Easy To Fly Through A Window

The Grammy nominations were all wrong. Only two things should have been nominated for anything: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Watch The Throne. For every category.

The Christmas season starts December 1st. Extenuating circumstances can stretch that to the day after Thanksgiving but that's it.

I know this is an old post but... In Chicago They start playing Christmas Music on the radio November 13th.

Anyways My most reasent Downloads were of Kirby Krackle. If your not familiar with his music (which I believe some of you will like). Here's some samples.

Does anyone here ever listen to old blues? I mean stuff like Lead Belly and Blind Willie Johnson.

I just picked up a compilation from Blind Willie Johnson and it's pretty amazing. His music has more of an old spiritual slant than other blues singers. His voice is incredible and intense.

I looked into it because Led Zeppelin covered (or reinterpreted) some of his songs and I wanted to hear the originals.

Post of the Day.

#^$&%@!!

oh wow, I missed that. Yay! It's been a while.

Does anyone else like Fleetwood Mac's album "Rumors"? It's one of my favourite older albums, maybe even more than the Beatles or the Beach Boys. It's just so fun!

And to answer your question, E; I don't listen to old blues, but I probably should!

I listen to a lot of blues, but more times than not, I have no idea who I'm listening to. That's about as depressing as my music gets, but it's beautiful.

Yes! It's one of my all-time favorites.

Anyone else has listened or heard of the band "fun."? Just pre-ordered their second album on iTunes just now. Great music.

Not really my thing but not too bad either. They've got a little bit of a Queen thing going on. If you like them there is another band sort of like them called Foxy Shazam you might like who are decent.

My favorite album right now is Run Devil Run by Paul McCartney. It's mostly a bunch of raucous 50s & 60s rock & roll in a modern, very loud style. It's kind of messy and I love it; I'll be listening to it on repeat the rest of the day.

The greatest album of all time is Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire) by The Kinks.

It is, without a doubt, the most brilliant and complete writing you will ever hear. Every song is brilliant. Constant changing and movements, hitting on a bunch of different genres, evolving in real time as you listen to them, and all coming together to tell a story. It never gets old or predictable. There is nothing like it.

I very strongly recommend checking it out.

My Top 10 (or so) favorite albums of all time. This list is constantly evolving depending on what I'm into at the moment but even if the positions change, the albums on the list generally stay the same:

I love 13. Blur's best album, followed closely by their self-titled. I never really got too much into their earlier stuff. It's too slick; 13 is edgier and messier.

Yeah. Damon Albarn is brilliant. Honestly for me, it came down to either 13 or Parklife, but 13 wins out just on the sheer diversity of the album. And besides, I already had enough Britpop representation on the list.

I like Mellow Gold more but Modern Guilt is really great and is probably my second favorite album of his.

I gotta go with Proj on this one, but Mellow Gold is pretty great too.

Have you guys heard his Record Club stuff?

I got tickets to see Radiohead in November. This is the first time they've come to Australia in about eight years and it's my first time seeing my favourite band. I fortunately discovered a pre-sale thing a couple of days before they went on sale to the general public and if I didn't... I don't think I would have got them. They went fast.
