GALACTUS HUNGERS

My buddy sent me this in a text. I can't seem to find the actual source with reverse image search though. I'm assuming something leaked.

Ugh. The more I am hearing about these new books the less I'm liking all of it.

Uh...super solid creative team, incredible team, followup to the best Avengers book, and GALACTUS IS ON THE TEAM! This is the best looking book out of them all. What don't you like?

Well, for starters - Galactus being on any kind of team.

What's wrong with that? Galactus is a joke now, might as well do something cool with him you know?

I've only been slightly following this and maybe it was explained, maybe not, but is Ultimate Punisher now alive? I remember Nick Fury shooting him point blank in the head and his remains were burned. Granted, Frank was infected by the Gah Lak Tus swarm.

The universes that make up Battleworld are all recreated realms made by Dr. Doom. Anyone can be dead and anyone can be alive. The rules are up to the writer.

Yup. It can be assumed Doom resurrected many previously dead characters from the various worlds he created Battleworld from.

Or even that that isn't Ultimate Punisher but a different universe's version of Punisher (since it's more than just the 616 and Ultimate universe that make up Battleworld).

Well, Ultimate End establishes that this is a domain where the portal from Spider-Men fused 616 with Ultimate so it's definitely those two. You can also tell by the font.

Also I heard somewhere that the new Spider-Man book will be Spider-Men 2. There may be more for Ultimate.

Yeah, most likely. I'm just saying that with the Marvel Zombie verse and the numerous other alternate realities that make up the patchwork Battleworld, it's already been shown there are more than just the Ultimate and 616 versions on Battleworld.

The first arc of the new Spider-Man ongoing that focuses on Miles will essentially be Spider-Men 2, Bendis said. Apparently we'll find out about the 616 version of Miles in that book.

This isn't something I'd consider as doing something cool with him...

I would prefer Galactus start wearing some tubular shades, grow out a wispy 'stache and mullet (because with those antenna on his head and its general column shape, a mullet just might work), and perhaps they can add a rat-tail to each antenna. Then he'll begin tooling around the cosmos in a spaceship that's oddly similar in design to a giant Pontiac Trans-Am.

Is this the thread for the "Ultimate End" comic?

Assuming it is, I'm two issues in, and I don't really understand what's going on. It really seems like Bendis wanted to tell a cross-over story where the rift between universes from Spider-Men caused 616 NYC to merge with 1610 NYC, but before he got the chance to tell that story, Secret Wars happened, so he was forced to shoe-horn his story into Secret Wars.

How does a rift to another dimension exist when there are no other dimensions anymore because the entire multiverse has died and now "there is only Secret Wars"? How does that rift tie into the fact that the two earths crashed into each other anyway? I know that no one knows that happened, and I can accept that, but why does 616 Peter Parker not remember meeting Ultimate May and Gwen previously? Why does no one seem to remember that Ultimate Peter Parker isn't actually dead? How much of the ultimate continuity is still part of their history? I'm very confused about the status quo reality of this merged NYC.

I need to read the rest of the miniseries, but I have very little hope that it will clear anything up.

It's not 616 and Ultimate that merged but rather close alternatives just like the rest of Battleworld. The real ones were destroyed in the incursions. It's the worst tie-in by far.

I can't remember if it was Bendis or someone else at Marvel, but they said it was Manhattan Island from both universes that was in Ultimate The End. The Battleworld map even says 616 and 1610.
