X-Men TV series confirmed in the works at FOX

"We're in negotiations with Marvel," Walden revealed to the press. "We're hopeful that we'll be able to announce something soon. It's something we're definitely pursuing."

Walden also clarified that an X-Men TV show, which he described as a "long-running" series, could only include characters from Fox's X-Men Movie Universe, as per licensing contracts with Marvel and Marvel Studios.

"The characters from the X-Men franchise are with Fox on the feature [films] side, so we won't be including Marvel characters that are at ABC with Disney."

Walden also stated that Iceman would not be used in the series due to unprecedented lack of interest, adding that "literally no one" cares if he appears.

Aw, sorry Ice.

Since Marvel still retain the TV rights to the X-Men, this is very interesting, especially in terms of the leverage this will allow Marvel (especially considering the bad blood between the two studios).

I wonder... could the talks this leads to help cement a hard reboot for Fox's X-Men franchise so it can be integrated into the MCU? I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

Which means Marvel has the coolest X-Men back. WIN!!

Marvel executives later clarified that the move was only to lock away the character so as to not further embarrass the company.

:-(

Then the executives clarified they were actually referring to Ghost Rider and apologize for any confusion as they certainly were not trying to be evil jerks or anything.

:p

That would be too good to be true.

So of course, I'm hoping for it as well.

So, it's old news that Legion is going ahead, but it's newer news that another X-Men tv series is going ahead with a pilot. This show (not Hellfire) is about a teenager who discovers he or she is a mutant. Apparently actual X-Men will show up. And the pilot is going to be directed by Singer.

If they were smart they'd make an episode around Ultimate X-Men #41
