Marvel's Earth-616 Timeline

Also, something regarding Hank Pym that I found in The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A to Z #13:

The reference to Albert Poole and Grutan is to a story in Strange Tales #75... except it's not. Instead, it's actually referring to the reprint from Tomb of Darkness #22, where not only was the name of Poole's giant robot changed (from Hulk to Grutan), but his assistant (who was named Blake in the original story) was renamed Pym and had his hair colour changed to blonde. With this reference being in an official handbook, that makes the Retcon (and thus the Reprint) canon to Earth-616.

Gonna continue the War is Hell stories soon, but anything else you'd want me to do that's pre-1960s (IE: Golden Age era)?
If it isn't problematic for you, you could help with the comics set during WWII. I'll let you chose if you want to takle superheroes of that era, (IE: Captain America).

And now I'll add your findings.

Okay, onto War Is Hell #12, and sadly, while we have a year (1940), there's only a vague idea of when it is (Spring, so essentially anytime in March to May).

The majority of the comics is also a flashback to 1924, showing how Kowalski and Tsuin Hanneford were acquainted with one another.

Quick side-journey before I get back onto the War Is Hell grindset, since I figured I might as well get this done due to it being an early part of Pym's life. As the story was reprinted but with changes to fit into continuity, I'll be using the reprint, but with the original comic's release date as a reference point and moving backwards if I have to.

Fortunately, the story is pretty short, so that made it easy to find dates for, and the story mentions that Poole and Pym took "Two Summers" to create Grutan, which would translate to 2 years. Adding in that Strange Tales #75's original release (and likely present-day in the story) was in January 1960, that allows us to place the story's beginning in 1958.

And because I like digging up obscure tosh that later gets referenced in modern comics, thus properly bringing it into canon, here's a story from Adventures into Terror #4 that later becomes canon due to a location in it being used in an Event from 2023.

One more before I go out for some breakfast, but here's a weird one... a text story from Adventures into Weird Worlds #3. And why this? Well, because the Marvel Appendix listed this as being a part of Julius Caesar's profile... or rather, Charles Cotta's profile. And unfortunately, Kara's time-travelling to abduct "Caesar" and several other noted military men from history (specifically Earth-616) makes it a bit tricky to place, especially as the story ends with each of the men being returned to their own time from the exact moment they were taken. For ease, I've chosen to put this in the 30th Century/2900s due to that being the main setting of the story.

Aliens and Time-Travel? Can only be a Cosmos-themed story.

And screw it, one more for Cotta, this time Strange Tales (1951) #53.

The majority of the story is essentially one long weird dream that "Caesar" is having, and essentially foreshadowing his "demise" on the Ides of March. In terms of the reading order, we can place it in 44 BC.

How does this one connect exactly?

I may be wrong, but the math aint mathing (atleast for me). He says "Pym and I worked on that machine all summer and during the next two summers". "all summer" + "next two summers" = 3 summers rather than 2 no? Unless I'm being stupid.

Also Megatron, just a suggestion, I think a to-do list or something on the first page of this thread for people to help out would be good. Like certain comic series or events for people to help and maybe contribute to, like Dredd is doing. It could speed up progress a little more possibly. btw the idea of this timeline is very cool and very ambitious.

Is mentioned in Captain America: Unforgiven #1. Heck, the very center June worked at in the original story is used across the Unforgiven event.

Trust me, I wouldn't insert random and obscure stories from the 1950s unless I had the receipts to back up their canonicity. ;)
Didn't doubt you at all, was just curious ^^

ACK! You're right, I missed that part!

Uhhh, okay, then the beginning would be 1957 instead of 1958 @Megatron.

I can get behind this idea.

Also, somewhat of a big question, but how are we gonna handle comics that are retroactively set during eras (IE: the 1960s to 1980s) when you'd normally have the likes of the Fantastic Four or Spider-Man active IRL?

For example, the entirety of the Marvel: The Lost Generation run being one massive retroactive insert:

Explained in the intro. The years in the Modern Age are fake, basically is how we date the events, but like in Year One, all the events happens in a single year, but from the POV of our reality it happens in 3 different years. So no issues.
