Also, no need to apologise for asking a question. You weren't being rude or anything.
right, we only technically see a "protomorph" in covenant that david created; we know the xenomorph must predate this in some form because of the mural on the wall in prometheusIt has no connection to the Yautja. I think there's a proven false narrative that David 8 created the Xenomorphs too, but we know that's not the case.
Yeah, that'd be because of presumed contradictions between the Weyland Corp origins and the Xenomorph species (both of which don't really exist), but let's be real, there's no way Alien: Romulus, which is connected to those prequels, is a separate universe to Predator: Badlands, which is connected to Alien. They've even said the next AVP film could include characters from both Alien and Predator films akin to a proper cinematic universe. For whatever reason, I had it in my head that the Predator timeline was all the predator movies, the AVP movies, and the Alien movies (minus Prometheus and its sequel), and that the Alien timeline was just the Alien movies
not to mention the scrapped ending of the predator 2018 which would have had ripley from the future in the podYeah, that'd be because of presumed contradictions between the Weyland Corp origins and the Xenomorph species (both of which don't really exist), but let's be real, there's no way Alien: Romulus, which is connected to those prequels, is a separate universe to Predator: Badlands, which is connected to Alien. I mean, now people are saying that Alien: Earth contradicts the last three Alien films because it doesn't subscribe to the Xenomorphs being a creation of David nor follows the technology of the prequels, neither of which contradict anything, so it's just something you gotta live with. Either way, all 15 films are definitely the same universe.
Hm, that would have been weird. I'd probably treat it as an alternate Ripley (perhaps from the alt. Aliens sequel) that creates the Alien³/Resurrection timeline through her presence in the past. That would have hurt the canon a bit, ironically.not to mention the scrapped ending of the predator 2018 which would have had ripley from the future in the pod
Oh, another aspect that doesn't really mean much, but the first four chronological films (Prey, Predator, Predator 2, Predator: Killer of Killers) are made into a connected storyline and all before the first AVP movie.Another reason for this, an older Harrigan appears in a Predator short story. You'd have to account for his age too. I don't think there's any contradictions to them both being taken shortly after Predator 2 between chapters of Stalking Shadows. They don't have to reference everything that happens to them.
It just means that they escaped back to Earth around 1998-2000 off-screen (until another movie comes out).
I feel so much like you with this quote, I fight each day against the Arkhamverse and Buffyverse non-canoners...Probably the millions of AVP non-canoners online.![]()
All that did was remind me I need to watch the Terminator moviesYou see someone asking if Terminator 3 is canon online to a Terminator community, and they'll all say no despite the fact that all films were confirmed canon to Terminator Zero. It just happens.
For Terminator? Just watch them in the chronological order of the timelines.Which timeline would you recommend doing first?
Hence why there's a separate thread for the shared universe, which is chock full of technological inconsistenciesJust saying, the continuity of this franchise is actually very consistent.
The head-canon one? Yeah, I meant specifically the Alien and Predator franchises with themselves and each other. They're consistent and don't have any inconsistencies, tech-wize.Hence why there's a separate thread for the shared universe, which is chock full of technological inconsistencies
Of course, it's just once you try and include any more franchises it falls apart entirely in terms of consistency (hence why it's a separate thread)The head-canon one? Yeah, I meant specifically the Alien and Predator franchises with themselves and each other. They're consistent.
Yeah... I mean, Dan Trachtenberg said he views Blade Runner as connected, at least thematically, but the head of 20th Century Studios probably disagrees due to rights issues. Terminator ain't happening in a million years.Of course, it's just once you try and include any more franchises it falls apart entirely in terms of consistency (hence why it's a separate thread)
I can't really think of anything that would contradict it off the top of my head, though hypothetically that'd bring in superhero crossovers and unfortunately Terminator time travel.I'd love to see it get canonically referenced in the Slasherverse, and with so many IPs it's bound to have at least one owned by 20th Century. Though I don't know enough about either timelines to say how consistent it'd be (I've had to put my Slasherverse binge on hiatus until I can get a Hellraiser DVD, which I couldn't even find on… questionable websites, and I prefer the idea of having a physical copy over a digital version (eg on Prime) that I could lose at any time if they removed it from the platform)
