I will say official word isn't always the gospel. Sometimes on-screen evidence is the best evidence.

I always take Word of God as final (unless they clearly don't know what they're talking about like with that one Alien game where the producer said Predator wasn't canon to the franchise) since errors in the media could happen, but the basic idea of the movie wouldn't usually change

Sometimes people talk out of their ass, and contradict the canon as a whole, which would obviously need multiple people to agree on. Another example is numerous people in Marvel Studios giving contradictory dates for the same movie/show. Other than this, I take Word of God as final. Though, I suppose I wouldn't consider it as always the best source (though it usually is)

I'd say unless something's parody to the point where it overrides the consistency of the movie/show itself, you shouldn't disregard it

I think Piranha 3D is more of a tonal shift than an outright parody. I don't think he was playing a parody of his character when he outright said they're the same person.

I mean, references place the original two Piranha films in the same universe as Gremlins/The Howling/Explorers, so I don't know. I think Piranha 3D works fine with Jaws.

Yeah sorry. It was being glitchy when I was typing it in, it was normal and formatted correctly and then when I saved it would break again. I'll try fix it later, waiting to see if it was the site doing it or i'll try edit it on a different device.

It's the site. Sometimes it puts the last used colour format inside the one you want to do, you can either delete the whole thing (including the last thing that's meant to be yellow) or go into the source code (like I said previously. Not sure if I explained it well, it's the square brackets button here)
