Alien vs. Predator - Timeline

Ms. Yutani short came out. So... the Yutani Corporation was the one that sent out the ship that crashes on Earth a long time ago, huh? It all makes sense that Yutani would be the ones to first start making spaceships and whatnot, considering they acquired alien technology back in 2004.

Just saying, the continuity of this franchise is actually very consistent.

Hence why there's a separate thread for the shared universe, which is chock full of technological inconsistencies
The head-canon one? Yeah, I meant specifically the Alien and Predator franchises with themselves and each other. They're consistent and don't have any inconsistencies, tech-wize.

Of course, it's just once you try and include any more franchises it falls apart entirely in terms of consistency (hence why it's a separate thread)
Yeah... I mean, Dan Trachtenberg said he views Blade Runner as connected, at least thematically, but the head of 20th Century Studios probably disagrees due to rights issues. Terminator ain't happening in a million years.

I actually think Underwater is the only completely 100% valid non-Alien/Predator franchise that fits perfectly, especially since the connection is very specifically accurate for its timeline and I genuinely believe there was a small intent with Weyland Corp's existence in that film's world. Independence Day is something they could force in if they wanted to, they have the rights and Dan said it was very easy to get the Harvester skull in Badlands, which is actually very focused on in the film too, but that would definitely destroy a lot of consistency due to the wide-spanning destruction of both the 1996 and 2016 invasions.

I'd love to see it get canonically referenced in the Slasherverse, and with so many IPs it's bound to have at least one owned by 20th Century. Though I don't know enough about either timelines to say how consistent it'd be (I've had to put my Slasherverse binge on hiatus until I can get a Hellraiser DVD, which I couldn't even find on… questionable websites, and I prefer the idea of having a physical copy over a digital version (eg on Prime) that I could lose at any time if they removed it from the platform)

I think I like the idea that Underwater being connected to Alien implies an overlap between H.P. Lovecraft and H.R. Giger lore. Cthulhu and the Deep Ones actually match pretty well thematically, since Cthulhu is worshipped as a deity by his cultists, and the Engineers are our gods, while the Deep Ones are a product of interspecies breeding and rape, just like the Xenomorphs.

Weyland Corp, Nostromo sound effects, heavy Alien inspiration both in the set design and plot, shady mega corporations, it's actually a perfect fit. Shame all people ever talk about is Blade Runner because Underwater fits a lot better. Also, no contradictions.

I can't really think of anything that would contradict it off the top of my head, though hypothetically that'd bring in superhero crossovers and unfortunately Terminator time travel.

It'd be funny if Alien vs. Captain America was set in Earth-7642 rather than Earth-1987. All those Predator crossovers don't fit there but the one thing that does is the Alien one. Between teaming up with Wonder Woman, Steve spent WW2 fighting Xenomorphs? Lol, love it. It's probably what the wiki will do.
I'm using 1987 until it gets a different number because there's no contradiction.

And yet the Franchise Consultant keeps denying that Alien and Predator aren't in the same universe. Ironic.

He's just a guy who worked on the RPG, literally no one should care what he has to say. No offence to him, his work on the RPG is very good, but it's obvious that he was told they're separate franchises and not to reference them because Free League Publishing don't have the rights to Predator, not because they're separate universes.

He can describe himself as a very important person, but it's clear that he has no right to enforce his will when creatives on the books, comics, games and, evidently, movies decide to connect the two.

Ha, that would be a hilarious "take that"
Both are James Cameron. It'd be a pretty perfect fit.

@Pro Bot speaking of the Slasherverse, have you considered the Leprechaun reference in the Behind the Mask short film? (I know I mentioned it a while ago but I just remembered it and I'm itching for an answer now)

Sorry for haggling about it over a completely irrelevant thread, but have you also considered the Crow, Spawn, Fright Night and Jack Chop references I mentioned? (The former 2 having comic crossovers, Charley Brewster appearing in Crystal Lake Massacres Revisited, and Jack Chop being somewhat prominent in the Hatchet franchise)

the headcanon thread is to see how all the referenced franchaises would look if they were all set in the same universe, that's why it's called HEADcanon.

It's no way official. But it's fun to look at!

Do you know how that would work out time travel wise?

Arkhamverse non-canoners literally try and argue that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League isn't canon because they don't like it. I know it's a bad game, but there's literally no reason to be upset at it anymore. The story worked itself out and it's fine, everyone is fine. Even Robin is probably secretly fine. Lex Luthor is dead, sure, but who cares about Arkhamverse Lex Luthor anyway? He's only appeared in a voice message prior to this game.
>everyone is fine

... except that Wonder Woman is still dead since she was never captured/cloned, and the JL's reputation is down the shitter thanks to the clones Brainiac made of them. Not sure how you can call that a "happy ending".

Besides, game's still dogshit, and the way that clone-Batman (yes, technically we didn't know it was a clone at the time, but still...) was killed off was a spit in the face of OG Arkhamverse fans that really showed just how much Rocksteady had declined.
