It's a Latin phrase that means rarity.

For me it's two portuguese words that means "Rare birds" (Although avis would be aves then it would be portuguese. And Rare would be raro and in other way of writting it, but you get the point, it's almost the same thing.)

I prefer it when Bizarro is written more like a Frankenstein-like monster. For examples, check out Justice by Alex Ross and Jim Krueger or Geoff Johns/Adam Kubert's issues of Action Comics.
