Okay you're an assistant editor at the comic book publisher of your choice. You're boss comes in and tells you to drum up some roster ideas for a team-book they'd like to set-up for a future creative team to write. He asks for a proposal including: The roster of the team, The driving idea, explainations for character choices, and the creative team you'd like to see.

THE RULES------------------------

1) The winner of the last round becomes the moderator of the round, and thus gets to choose the team in question to be built. He must also name the roster to be filled, which should be at least 4, but no more than 9.

2) You may not use more than 4 characters common in anyone else's team in the round, as in if team one has characters a,b,c,d,e, team two can have characters a,b,c,d in common, but cannot use character e. The team posted first takes priority.

3) You must write a brief two or three sentence plot summary, an explanation for each team member, and the creative team you'd like to see on the book.

4) After TEN DAYS, the round is declared closed. People will vote via PM and send it to the moderator, who will count the votes and declare winner. Like the Ultimatization Game, you CANNOT vote for yourself.

5) The winner declared gets to choose the team in the next round.

This Round:

The Thunderbolts

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderbolts_(comics)

Sept 26th will be the last day for entries.

In these new and dangerous times with Norman Osborn in charge, the world has been flipped upside down. The worst of the worst are now considered heroes and being rewarded as they get to hunt down and kill heroes as they please. Perhaps the most angered at Osborn's new regime is the original king of the Thunderbolts, Helmut von Zemo. He's back from his travel through time, and he's going to ****ing kill Norman Osborn. People thought Osborn's Dark Avengers were bad, these Thunderbolts are monsters.

The Thunderbolts

Helmut von Zemo: The Baron
200px-Baron_Zemo_by_Marko_Djurdjevic_001.jpg

Returning after his sojourn throughout time, Zemo comes back to reclaim the Thunderbolts mantle from Osborn and take his seat back in saving the world at large his own way. Making deals with all manner of devils literally, Helmut picks those with the abilities to take down the members of Norman Osborn's HAMMER.

Zebediah Killgrave: Purple Man
090725_purpleman.jpg

The first part of Zemo's plan is put into place as several members of HAMMER find that they are experiencing headaches and find that small accidents are occurring across the whole organization. Even the most powerful members of the Dark Avengers are acting not like themselves, and are experiencing delusions. Soon they find that they have blackouts in which they do uncharacteristic actions that are tumbling down HAMMER. This is Killgrave's doing, this is what he was brought into the Thunderbolts for.

Mary Alice Walker: Typhoid Mary
77446-56888-typhoid-mary_large.jpg

The only female member of the Thunderbolts, Typhoid Mary is one of the most dangerous. Having spent time in the Initiative, her mind has been realigned by Killgrave and she now has all of her abilities at the same time. Though this would seem to be a boon to Mary, the only dominant personality left is that of Bloody Mary. Mary is Zemo's version of germ warfare and will kill the Avengers from the inside out.

Cletus Kassidy: Carnage
venomcarnage010405_2.jpg

Discrediting Norman's Avengers even more, it is shown on television that Spider-Man has been running around murdering innocents at a whim. With the public blaming Mac Gargan for this, and Osborn finding no reason why Venom has turned, they soon realize that Carnage has been unleashed by Zemo and is out for blood. The question stands as to where Carnage has been all this time, and what he really wants now.

Robert Hunter: Nitro
440px-Nitro.jpg

Forced to joining the Thunderbolts, Nitro is brought in because Zemo blames him for this entire mess. Using him along with Carnage to assault the public, Nitro poses as Captain Marvel, blowing up and entire city block and discrediting the Avengers even more. Used for heavy destruction, Nitro is there to decimate anyone that attacks him; especially Noh-Varr.

Taskmaster
TaskmasterMUN070.gif

Working as an inside man for the Initiative, Taskmaster has been training Osborn's newest recruits and molding them to fit Zemo's way of thinking. Possessing the abilities of some of the greatest martial artists in the world, Taskmaster is ready to fight his way out of any situation if he is ever found out. That outcome is unlikely however. His main goal as a member of Zemo's Thunderbolts is to gain access to the Vault, where their next member is stored.

Dirk Garthwaite: Wrecker
200px-Wrecker_02.jpg

The powerhouse of the Thunderbolts, Dirk Garthwaite has been given the death penalty after murdering the rest of the Wrecking Crew and absorbing their powers into himself. Now five times as powerful as ever, the Wrecker is the pure muscle of the group, being released by Taskmaster and tearing the Vault to the ground. He's got it out for Ares after a previous confrontation also. Despite his great power, Garthwaite isn't the one that Osborn has to worry about.

Bob Reynolds: The Void
mightyavg14_voidsentry.jpg

Through his manipulations of Sentry from afar, Zebediah Killgrave has learned that the Void is disappointed in the type of hero that Reynolds has become. Contacting Killgrave, the Void agrees to help Zemo attack the Dark Avengers, only as long as he is fully reconnected with Reynolds and given control. Zemo tasks him with this, but in the chance that the Void turns on him, he has the Moonstone crystals to contain his essence.

Writer: Fabian Nicieza. A writer who has extensive work on team books, especially the original Thunderbolts, he wrote Zemo: Born Better, and completely got the character of Zemo down perfectly.

Artist: Jae Lee. Lee's creepy visuals and gloomy tone work amazingly to set the stage for dark characters such as the Thunderbolts.

I'm the moderator for this round, so I can't play, but I want to do one just for fun.

Thunderbolts: Among the Madmen

The Story: Dark Reign is over! Norman Osborn is in a coma and definitely not involved in this story at all. But if Norman is out of the picture, then who is that green guy throwing people's girlfriends off bridges? That's right the Green Goblin's back and at it again! But there's more going on here than meets the eye... someone is out to frame Harry Osborn! Evidence is planted in his apartment identifying him as the Green Goblin. Arrested by Hammer, Harry has two options: rot in Ryker's for crimes he didn't commit, or join the thunderbolts as the Green Goblin!

The Writer: Todd McFarlane. This is a story about Harry Osborn. He knows the character and he's an amazing writer.

The Artist: Lenil Francis Yu. Look at that picture of Venom and tell me he's the wrong guy for the job!

The Team:
113372-154266-harry-osborn_super.jpg

Harry Osborn: Green Goblin This is his story. His dad was the leader, now he's the jr member. He joins the team hoping for an opportunity to clear his name. But what effect will becoming the Goblin and working with psychopaths have on his delicate mind?

86919-109559-venom_super.jpg

Mac Gargan: Venom He's crazy, he's brutal, he's a thunderbolt.

sabertooth_color.jpg

Victor Creed: Sabretooth If Wolverine is the guy who is always trying to cage his inner beast, Sabretooth is the guy who lets it run wild. There's no inner struggle, he's just bad. He'll be great in juxtaposition to Harry.

Bullseye1R.jpg

Bullseye Norman used to call the shots. Now Norman's not around...but his kid is. Bullseye's gonna have some fun with this.

77446-56888-typhoid-mary_large.jpg

Mary Walker: Typhoid Mary No one does crazy better than Typhoid Mary. Split Personalities? She's got three. Let's se what she can bring out in Harry.

440px-Songbird_Head.jpg

Melissa Gold: Songbird We need one person who's a bit more normal. Songbird's not like the other Thunderbolts, she's got some morals, and she's not a psychopath. She and Harry won't like each other, but they'll prefer each other to the rest of the crew...and who knows what might happen.

kingpin.gif

Wilson Fisk: Kingpin Recently re-arrested and put in charge of the Thunderbolts, you can bet he's got motives that are less than pure.

Norman Osborn's reign of terror has ended, his Thunderbolts have been disbanded, and the government has shut down the program. Months later in New York a new group will take up the mantle of...

THE THUNDERBOLTS!

Songbird
165984-41210-songbird_super.jpg

Melissa Gold has decided to hang up the tights and let her hair return to a normal human color. She's moved in with her on again off again boyfriend Abner Jenkins and gotten a nice desk job at Roxxon Oil, but she feels unfulfilled. She decides to start a Super Villains Anonymous to help others leave the life behind. After playing to an empty house for the first few weeks she finally begins to draw in some members when she convinces some former teammates to spread the word.

Shocker
859947-shocker_large.jpg

Herman Schultz was just out to make a buck. He was never a lunatic with a vendetta or a would-be crime lord. He just wanted to use the gauntlets he invented to make some cash and retire comfortably. That never happened for Herman and thanks to an internet meme that's recently popped up he's now internationally famous only for constantly being "PWNED" by Spider-Man. He decides to retire from villainy altogether rather than continue to give the blogosphere material. He goes to SVA for help.

Delilah
138241-31857-delilah_super.jpg

Super strong, fast, and agile with excellent hand to hand and armed combat training she thought she'd take the world of villainy by storm, but things never worked out for the mysterious woman calling herself Delilah. Unlike her ex, Mac Gargan, who grabbed a symbiote and rose up to become a Dark Avenger she finds herself poor, unemployed, and sorry she ever tried her hand at villainy. Unlike her teammates who were at least relevant at some point in the past, she's a neverwas and bitter about it. She joins SVA for support.

Blizzard II
77238-194067-blizzard_large-1.jpg

Donald Gill, the second man to bear the name Blizzard, has been both a hero and a villain, but he doesn't lay awake at night thinking about saving people. He can barely stop himself from just taking the things he wants and stealing enough money to move out of his crappy apartment. Songbird invites him to the meetings, but he never shares with the group. Instead he sits in the back and makes snide remarks, much to Melissa's chagrin.

Absorbing Man
437582-absorbingman_super.jpg

Carl Creel is big time. Everyone and their mother knows the Absorbing man, he's fought them all… and lost. Put simply, he's just tired of getting his *** handed to him by every superhero team under the sun. He's tired of doing Loki's bidding. He's tired of going to jail, busting out, and being sent right back. He's just tired of the life and he's ready to quit. He hears about Melissa's program and decides this is a good way to keep himself on the straight and narrow. He convinces his lady friend Titania to come with.

Titania
98629-96852-titania_large.jpg

Mary MacPherran was a loser in her life prior to being turned into a supervillainess by none other than Dr. Doom himself. And even though she's had her *** handed to her more times than she can count she still thinks things are better now than they were prior to her transformation. She is dragged along to the meeting by her current beau, Carl Creel, and has nothing but contempt for the whole idea. When she gets an invite to reform the Frightful Four she jumps at the chance and asks Creel to come with her.

When one of their own falls off the wagon the members of Super Villains Anonymous band together to put a stop to this new Frightful Four and accidentally form the New Thunderbolts. But will they be able to stay clean in a city where they're well known (most of them anyway) supervillains, encountering old allies and old nemesis, facing temptation around every corner, and having their heroics being illegal thanks the registration act?

And what will happen when Baron Zemo shows up to "help".

The individual heroes known as the "Marvel Knights" to the read do not pose a direct threat to Norman Osborn and H.A.M.M.E.R. But Norman Osborn knows the power dissent can attain, before these heroes can gain a following, or are allowed to become Martyr's. Osborn decides to nip the problem in the but before it grows, so he repurposes the Thunderbolts as his personal attack dogs for the anti-establishment heroes. They are tasked to hunt down the street level heroes, and discreetly take them out, be it alive or otherwise.

Mister Fear (Leader)
340x_MisterFear_Cranston.jpg

Osborn isn't just going to resign Ryker's to Mister Fear, he busts in with a full encompment of H.A.M.M.E.R. agents and delivers Cranston an Ultimatum, lend his services as Mister Fear to Osborn for the new Thunderbolts, or be incarcerated for life in a proper prison with no acces to his Fear gas. He accepts the offer when he finds out that he'd be hunting down heroes like Daredevil like dogs.

Silver Sable
91284-silver-sable_400.gif

A-level mercenary Silver Sable is not one to hunt down a hero, but she is still a mercenary, and she'll accept any job given a large enough pay-check, and Osborn's limitless funds, cement her in the line up. It's nothing personal, simply business with her.

Aborbing Man
absorbingman.jpg

After his countless defeats at the hands of super-heroes, Creel developes an obsession with hunting down these heroes, a very public skirmish with The Prowler (ends up hospitalized) brings Creel on Osborn radar, Osborn offers him the job, Creel jumps at the oppurtunity.

Black Spectre
250px-Black_Spectre.jpg

Hospitalized after his recent encounter with Moon Knight, Spectre was taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody, he was transferred over to H.A.M.M.E.R.'s custody after the regime change, Osborn offers to heal him completley, and offer him a place on the team to hunt down the one that did this to him. Spectre is only in it to get at Moon Knight, but thrashing some other heroes is something he's more than happy to tag along for.

Vienna
vienna.jpg
Shang-Chi has taken up a pacifistic protest against Osborns rule, Osborn tried to confront him by sending Hawkeye to take him down, Chi makes a fool out of him by simply dodging, blocking, and countering everything that get's thrown at him, he's becoming a major dissenting figure in the media. Osborn turns to someone who has spent plenty of time dealing with Shang-Chi, now serving as a mercenary, Vienna wins Osborns attention. She's your typical femme fatale character, I wanted to pick someone from Shang-Chi's rogue's gallery, so there she is.

Kraven III
250px-Alyosha_Kravinoff.jpg

After his recent encounter with the Punisher, the recently demented Alyosha Kravinoff is picked up by H.A.M.M.E.R. off the coast of the Savage Land, knowing the hunting and tracking skill a Kravinoff posseses Osborn offers him the job so he can regain his freedom.

Typhoid Mary
Daredevil46.jpg

After going Awol from the initiative she has been picked-up again by H.A.M.M.E.R., demanding release gets her nowhere, but when Osborn offers her freedom if she joins the team, she reluctantly accepts. Her schizophenia really lends her to an angle like this she can go from reluctant, and hessitant to, a cold blooded killer at a moments notice

Mister Eleven
440px-Mister_Eleven.jpg

Nobody knows he's on the team, not even Osborn, Mister Eleven is a body-snatcher with no corporeal form to call his own. He's after something that H.A.M.M.E.R. posseses, and he's found an in by body snatching with Absorbing Man, to find what he's looking for he'll jump from character to character, hero, villain, civilian, whatever, now that the success of the Thunderbolts is beneficial to him, he'll partake in the actions for as long as it is necessary.

Scimitar
200px-Scimitar_001.jpg

Another Mercenary, proficient with a sword, master hand to hand fighter, despicable in nature, Osborn hires him for his history with Iron Fist, and the fact that most street-level heroes are master hand-to hand fighters. He's just in this for the money, he couldn't care one way or another who gets hurt, or even if they win, as long as he's getting paid, he'll do his job.

Writer: Zeb Wells, he always impresses me, especially his handling of street-level characters.

Artist: Clay Mann, a rising talent, he did great work in the recent DR:Elektra series, regardless of the story keep an eye on this guy.

Osbourne is out. Nick Fury is back in charge of Shield. Time to do some re-organizing starting the Thunderbolts program.

Fury needs his own dirty cleanup group. Stuff that the Avengers or his Secret Warriors won't do. He has the Thunderbolts.

THE THUNDERBOLTS
Writer - Jonathan Hickman
Artist - Stefano Caselli

Operations Co-Director
Maria Hill
793441-mariahill.png

Maria proved she can handle leadership status with her short venture as Director of SHIELD. Fury sees a lot of potential to be one of the best and names her Co-Director with...

Field Ops Co-Director
Natasha Romanoff, The Black Widow
BlackWidow.jpg

There is almost no one Fury trusts more then Romanoff. Romanoff is one of the best spys in the world and the perfect person to led a Black Ops group.

The Cast
Bucky Barnes, The Winter Soldier
WinterSoldier-1.jpg

With Steve back and donning the cowl and shield, Bucky returns to his original getup. With Natasha's urging, Bucky rejoins in the spy world.

Melissa Gold, Songbird
Songbird.jpg

Classic Thunderbolt and requested to once again be on the team that she feels like home.

Nathan Summers, Cable
Cable.jpg

After Hope returns from the Future fully grown and off doing her own adventure now. That lives Cable with no purpose. Fury comes to him with a job. Cable accepts cause he has nothing better to do.

Wade Wilson. Deadpool
Deadpool-1.jpg

Fury offers Deadpool a ****load of money and Natasha uneasily accepts him with the urging of Cable and because of his feud with the old Thunderbolts.

Daken
Daken.jpg

Daken was a big help in the downfall of Osbourne. Fury allowed him to escape jailtime and as part of a probationary status put him on the Thunderbolts.

Eddie Brock, Purge (formally known as Anti-Venom)
Anti-Venom.jpg

Eddie Brock is trying to be a good guy once again. He doesn't always go about it in the right way and gets in trouble again. Fury decided that he can use his raw power and will to do good and aims it in the right direction. Also I changed the name cause it was a stupid ****ing name.

STORYLINES
Hydra
The first mission involves them traveling to Egypt to stop Hydra from acquiring an ancient artifact that would allow them access to eternal life and
master of time. There is a sweet fight between The Gorgon and Deadpool. It is revealed at the end that The Gorgon discovered the crypt to Apocalypse.

Old Thunderbolts
Osbourne's old thunderbolts went underground after the fall of Osbourne. Headsman, Mister X, Sourge, and Ghost stayed together go on the run. Fury wants them found and sends his Thunderbolts after him. Too bad the group got some new addictions with Typiod Mary, Carnage, and Venom.

The Hand
After the new Hand does something unthinkable under the orders of Matt Murdock, Fury has no choice but to issue the arrest of Murdock. This causes tension on Natasha with their history and problems with her relationship with Bucky.

Maybe some other storylines involving The Red Hulk, AIM, and such. It all will led to a crossover with X-Force about Hydra resurrecting Apocalypse.
