BACK TO THE FUTURE

The Rules

1) The winner of the last round becomes the moderator of the next round, and is free to choose any property to be cast, whether it is based from comics, videogames, books, cartoons or real world figures. Round moderators may specify a specific medium (TV, film, cartoon, etc) and if he/she fail to specify a medium, then it is open game what medium participants want to play with.

2) When selecting a property for the round, moderators must select an ACTUAL property (ex.— Spider-Man, Mission Impossible, Thundercats, etc.). No generic rounds like "SuperGroup" (ex.— Doom chooses to make an Avengers cast and Ice does an X-Men cast and Bass does an Action Force cast). There needs to be an actual singular property.

3) Like last time---casts should consist of at least 4 characters and a maximum of 9. If you would like to cast an additional character, you must swap one out for another. However, the moderator has the option of leaving blank spots deliberately, with a maximum of 9 (ex.—for example, he or she may declare, Fantastic Four, and at least two bad guys and a Fantastic Friend (like She-Hulk, Power Man). Actors may not reprise their parts at all! Those who have played a character on film or TV may not play the character on voice and vice versa. Simply put, Kevin Conroy cannot put on a Batsuit and Christian Bale is not allowed to voices in your fantasy Batman CG adventure.

4) Once a new round is started---no posting casts for the first 24 hours.

5) When submitting an entry you must at least produce a cast. You can do a pitch if you want, but only a cast is required

6) Each round lasts ten days from the point the moderator posts it, and voting lasts for at least a day and any time past that needed to secure a victory. At the end of the round and voting begins, the mod will divide the submissions into 2 categories: Cast and Pitch. Cast winner wins the round and mods the next round. Pitch winners are allowed to add another property to the pool. When you vote, you must specify what the vote is for (ex.—I vote for Mole's cast and Bass' pitch…or I vote for Proj's cast and Proj's pitch).

You must cast -

  • Marty McFly
  • Dr. Emmett Brown
  • Lorraine McFly
  • George McFly
  • Biff Tannen
  • Jennifer Parker
  • Mr. Strickland
You may cast two additional characters.

Round ends at midnight on Feb 9.

If the movie were being remade today, the studio would probably make it take place in the 2000s and 1980s. But I think that would kind of ruin everything. There's a bigger gap between the 1950s and the 1980s, especially when it comes to society and culture.

Marty McFly - Anton Yelchin
Anton is the only actor I can think of who could play Marty. Watch Charlie Bartlett. He can look, act, and sound like Michael J. Fox.

Doc Brown - Robert Downey JR.
RDJ's used to playing eccentric characters like Doc, but I think this would be his most over-the-top role. I didn't choose him just because he was in Charlie Bartlett with Anton Yelchin; he actually looks a little bit like Christopher Lloyd, around the eyes. I was thinking Brad Dourif might be another good choice.

Lorraine McFly - Ellen Page
I chose her because she kinda looks like Lorraine and she never appears to get any older, so it'd be easy for her to play her as a teenager and as an adult. Not to mention she's a fabulous actress. Also, Juno always kind of reminded me of an old lady, the way she acted.

George McFly - Sam Rockwell
Not really my first choice, and he's a little old to be playing the young version of George McFly, but I can still picture him doing it.

Biff Tannen - Jeremy Renner
So pretty much all of these people are older than the roles they're playing, but that was also the case with the original Back to the Future.

Jennifer Parker - Lyndsy Fonseca

Mr. Strickland - Jeffrey Tambor
This guy didn't really have much of a role in the first movie, so I didn't see the point in casting him. Jeffrey Tambor would give the role a bit more personality I think.

Thanks guys. The only ones I'm really satisfied with are Marty, Doc, and George.

I thought we had to wait 24 hours?

Also you stole my Lorraine McFly !

I posted that like a day after this thread was created. Are you bustin' my balls, Mole?

No I thought it had to be exactly 24 hours as thread created Yesterday 02:30 PM your one Today 06:19 AM so about 8 hours early. Sorry.

Still I loved your cast dude and I like I mentioned you had one I had down.

I'll keep that in mind next round. Thanks though.

My Entry

Marty McFly – Michael Angarano – Marty was pretty much a cool every kid. He had a goodness to him but also could be pretty sarcastic and mess up a lot. Michael Angarano has all of those qualities but in a more modern teen way.

Dr. Emmett Brown – Patrick Stewart – This choice is because he's got the same type of seriousness as Christopher Lloyd has had with similar distinctive voice but Patrick Stewart like to do comedy too and seems very likely to make Doc as funny and as memorable as the original but in his own unique way that makes him a great choice I think.

Lorraine McFly – Ellen Page – This may seem like a weird choice but I wanted a young actress who could play the flirty down to earth teenage version of the mother. But I also needed the actress to have a maturity about her for when they maker older and she's the Mother in present day.

George McFly – Jon Heder – While he maybe a little too old to play the teen now he can stil pull it off. George McFly was a push-over and a geek through out most of the movie which Jon Heder is great at in my opinion plus he can play the more confident version too.

Biff Tannen – Josh Peck – Biff was the dumb jock in school and the ass of the films basically but with all the slapstick in the film you need someone who's okay doing that type of stuff. Josh Peck works well as he's played an ass in stuff before like Drillbit Taylor but also done the slapstick in things like Josh Peck

Jennifer Parker – Selena Gomez – I know this choice may get a lot of flack. BUT the reason is Jennifer didn't do much in films besides been his girlfriend and look good basically. So I chose an actress who looked pretty and would look right with my Marty choice but also who's done some kind of comedy. The new version I could see her role been bigger and with more hilarious moments.

Mr. Strickland – Armin Shimerman – I remember him as Principal Snyder in Buffy and he reminded me of Strickland in BTTF. May be a bit of silly reason but I can't see anyone else working as well. For that reason he is my strickland.

I love your choice for Marty.

I've got a question. Doc Brown ****ounces it "jigga-watts," but I always figured it was ****ounced with a hard "g." How do you really ****ounce it?

EDIT: I thought someone was joking when they said "p-r-o-n" was in the swear filter. Jesus.

Wow...that was quick. I got like 95% of my cast done.

I'll definitely have to get cracking on this.

Edit: OMG! I just finished my cast and now I'm searching for photos. But holy **** is it brilliant! It's low-key...star-studded...and character driven. Good God...I haven't had a cast this brilliant in a while.
