Dreamcasting: The Remakes # 22: Fighting Evil By Moonlight...

It should be up by this weekend.

.....or a little over an hour later the same night. :?

SAILOR MOON

SailorMoon.jpg

Top: Brittany Snow, Sean Faris, Aimee Teegarden, Sophia Bush
Bottom: Adrianne Palicki, Hayen Pannetiere, Abigail Breslin, Sean Young

Serena/Sailor MoonBrittany Snow – The wide-eyed Snow has the look and innocent personality perfect enough to capture the young naiveté persona of Serena, while at the same time being able to muster an inner maturity capable of properly representing the Moon Princess/Lunar Warrior side to the young girl.

Darien/Tuxedo MaskSean Faris – Faris' stern role in Yours, Mine and Ours as the Admiral's "second-in-command" oldest son showed that he can play the mature "older" man to Serena's immature schoolgirl crush. But it's his physical role in Never Back Down, that proves he's capable of handling the role of the young, suave warrior destined to be the soul mate of Sailor Moon.

Ami/Sailor MercuryAimee Teegarden – Teegarden's role as Julie Taylor on NBC's Friday Night Lights as "responsible, teenage daughter coming into her own womanhood" serves as more than enough validity that she could play the shy, tech genius that is Sailor Mercury. Plus her name is Aimee too. :p

Raye/Sailor MarsSophia Bush – Known for her passionate roles on several teen dramas, Bush has shown that she can handle the passionate and fiery role of the zen pyrokinetic warrior. Look for her to the vampish vixen of the group.

Lita/Sailor JupiterAdrienne Palicki – Palicki's role as towering, "tough-as-nails" Tyra Collette on NBC's Friday Night Lights is a perfect match for the tall, athletic Lita. Palicki continually goes against the Hollywood grain by not continually portraying the "tall beautiful girlish blonde". Her physical presence amongst the other diminutive females of the team is only matched by her huge persona as well.

Mina/Sailor VenusHayden Panettiere – Your perennial boy-crazy, blonde who is constantly on the lookout for love. Panettiere has been strapped with some fairly versatile roles in her long career. Her ability to step up and be serious when its needed is crucial for the battles, but it's her ability to let go and have fun with the roles is what'll allow her to really bring this girly girl to life.

Rini Abigail Breslin – Annoying little girl who has an air of importance and sadness to her. I hated her in the show…and I hate Breslin. Match.

Queen BerylSean Young – I know ourchair will approve. This is a chance for Young to cut loose and really sink her teeth into a villain role. I'm talking sexy, crazy, bat**** nuts, Young chewing up the scenery in a most grandiose style. And seeing as how she's mostly acting like this all around Hollywood anyways…why not have her in make-up and film it?

You have my approval.

*slips extra vote in that oh-so-discreetly corrupt fashion into the ballot box*

Sailor Moon: Retirement Era

Things have settled down in the Sailor Moon-verse, for about 60 years, THEN EVIL STRIKES AGAIN! Emerging from their retirement home, only after they took their meds, and with their life alert alarms, the Sailor Moon Team springs, well some of them limp, and a couple use a walker, and Mercury needs a wheelchair but for a concise definition, THEY SPRING INTO ACTION! They fight crime, not at night time because they can't miss Ghost Whisperer, but during the day time, but not between noon and two, that's nap time at the home they all live in now.

Playing our hero Usagi Tsukino, aka Sailor Moon, is none other than, Beatrice Arthur! In her old age, Tsukino has become more bitter at life. She's divorced her former lover Mamoru Chiba 40 years ago, but as their fate has it, they are living together under the same roof in the retirement home, Beryl's Home for the Old.

Playing Mamoru Chiba (Tuxedo Mask) will be Brian Doyle Murray, who can play the bumbling romantic easily.

Next up is the Wheelchair bound Ami Mizuno, who will be played by Betty White. Betty White will nail the part of the still shy Sailor Mercury, who, due to Alzheimer's, falls in love with a new guy everyday.

Sailor Mars, Rei Hino, is a firecracker, and still showing it in her old age. She will be played by Grumpy Old Men star, Sophia Loren. Oh yeah, she's a cougar.

Moving on, well because there are only so many old woman who likes to do younger man jokes, we have the illustrious Sailor Jupiter, the tomboy herself, Makato Kino, which will be portrayed by Vanessa Redgrave. She boasts on how she continually defeats Chiba in arm wrestling.

Next up is Sailor, wait, what planet are we on? That's right, Minako Aino, who had aspirations of fame, is so delusional in her old age that she thinks she is actually a pop star, a teenage popstar. Ann-Magaret will portray this nutcase. Her stuffed cat she believes is still her familiar Artemis.

And finally, the everpresent villain is also the owner of the Reitrement Home that the Sailor Squad finds themselves at. This person is Queen Beryl, played by Dame Judi Dench.
HOTTEST.

MOVIE.

EVER.
Mine's going to be a skin flick, with the most famous porn stars in the business.
WHOOOO!!
That's a red flag right there. That's gonna be a no-no in posting.
BOOOOO!!

Doom's cast is brilliant, although I might swap the casting for Sailors Moon and Venus.

I can see why you would think that, but I can't really see Hayden with the wide-eyed naivete that you need to play Serena. Her face is always "scrunchy" or scowled. So I'd use that feature to highlight the sensuality and amored personality for Sailor Venus.

I'm recalling the innocence of Snow from John Tucker Must Die and American Dreams. When I saw how clumsy and overwhelmed she got just from a guy looking at her I knew she'd be able to capture the idea of Serena better than anyone.

I'd like to see picks for Malacite, Molly and Melvin.

James Marsden, Willa Holland, John Patrick Amedori

Malacite - James Marsden - With a devilish smile capable of charming anyone and a fierce cold gaze able to chill you to the bone, James Marsden is perfect to play the conniving Malacite. And it's Marsden's softer side that'll allow his later redemption to be that much more believable. Sexy tennis instructors are always evil.
**Or is you prefer someone younger, you can go with Ian Somerhalder....but I prefer to have their adversaries be considerably older.**

Molly - Willa Holland - Easily able to handle the spunky best friend of Serena, Holland is mostly known for playing a "*****". But every so often we'd catch a nicer side of the character and it was easy to see that she was leagues better than he overhyped predecessor, Mischa Barton.

Melvin - John Patrick Amedori - I always hated that Melvin was the goofball nerd. My version would have him be more of the artistic quiet type. He was great in Butterfly Effect and I found him entertaining in Stick It.

You already know what I think of it.

But for the masses......I think it's brilliant.

I've always commended Houde for taking a unique twist on the dreamcasting projects.

Ourchair, do we really have to cast Uranus, Pluto, NEptune and Saturn? We never really saw them in the US version of the anime.

You obviously didn't watch far enough into it then. The US anime was dubbed up until the fourth season (Sailor Moon SS). Neptune, Uranus, Pluto and Saturn showed up in Season 3 (Sailor Moon S).

I really want to do this round, but I'm terrible at this sort of thing. Sailor Moon is my one guilty pleasure from my teenage years. . .
