I did some research and apparently there were plans for a movie sequel, but it's in development hellThe game yes, the movie no (tho I remember reports that the movue sequel will be called The Great Detective Pikachu)
Or both the game and movie continue off the anime continuity but are mutually exclusive.Btw, I disagree that the Detective Pikachu movie would bring the Pokémon Anime continuity into this. In Detective Pikachu Returns (2nd Game), they mention the movie as an in-universe adaptation of Tim Goodman's adventure. And in the 1st game, Ash's Pikachu appears (very clearly the same Pikachu), making me believe that the two games are in the Anime continuity, and the movie is fictional in said continuity
In that case, the similar history could be chalked up to the fact that in-universe fiction typically considers real events to be canon.Btw, I disagree that the Detective Pikachu movie would bring the Pokémon Anime continuity into this. That'd be the explanation I'd go with. Plus, I'm not too much of a fan having sth happen in two timelines, in this case with the anime, but that's just me ^^In that case, the similar history could be chalked up to the fact that in-universe fiction typically considers real events to be canon.
For example, WW2 happens in Indiana Jones, but Indiana Jones isn't in the same universe as real life WW2.
The intention with the movie though was the anime happened in its continuity.... The sequel game happened several years later after the factThat'd be the explanation I'd go with. Plus, I'm not too much of a fan having sth happen in two timelines, in this case with the anime, but that's just me ^^
I would be interested in seeing a solo Pokémon Anime timeline if it doesn't get put here. Mostly to see when the Movies would be interspersed in-between episodes. Some are obvious of their placement like The First Movie but I would like to see where the rest go. There was a guy who kinda did it on YouTube but his reasoning for some of the films being "noncanon" felt kinda flat to me tbh (particularly the Mirage Master special and both the Diancie and Magearna movies)Or both the game and movie continue off the anime continuity but are mutually exclusive.
So universe 1 is the anime and game, universe 2 is anime and the movie. Because the movie is meant to be 20 years after The First Movie because of the Mewtwo stuff, so the anime is still canon to that film
