Any attempt to retcon what Loeb has vomitted up so far is fine by me.

And no need to rationalize looking for Ult. Hulk vs. Wolverine - it was shaping up to be a great story.

Pretty sure that's because she has boobs. Kinda hard to look like one's father that way.
 
I think the most frightening part of the whole Loeb continuity fiasco is if at the very end it actually all works and makes sense.

Good call on the boobs thing, point out the obvious, Loeb needs all the help he can get.

So I guess the theory here is all the weird things that happned in the UU recently are the results of Magneto manipulations of Scarlet Witch?

I guess that's decent explaiantion, but it seems like Ultimate House of M, which isn't a very old 616 story.

But Hulk was definitly stashed in the Triskelion again after Ultimate Power.

Whereas his whereabouts between Ultimates 2 11 and Ultimate Powe are unchronicled. That's why I maintain my stance.

Well, that... and her not-grey hair, rounder face, darker eyes, and less powerful connection to her only parent.

I only grasp at these straws because Wolverine/Magda prompted me to look into it.

Although I suppose it's just as likely that the big reveal next issue in Ultimates 3 will be that Nick Fury spent his entire life up to one week before his appearance in the UU flipping burgers at the Burger King at Atlantis, where he learned to be tough fighting Namor. That might hurt the already vague claims of continuity here a lot.

I would understand if origins took a different route with Nick.

@Overlord: Maybe, and some people have been saying that, but I think what we have now fits more in line with Magneto as the chess grandmaster, always planning ahead. I figure the Ultimates are playing right into his hands.

Seriously, when was the last time a major villain actually won?

I would love to see Magneto pull something off that establishes him or his ideals as a new status quo. Not THE status quo, but a new one. The Cold War sort of comes to mind...

What if Magneto outplayed everyone, accomplished whatever his "something new" goals are, and then stopped there. Seriously. World domination is impossible. Extinction of homo sapien isn't a viable option. So he just stops once he achieves what he had planned. A sort of "I'm here, I have THIS much power, and there's nothing you can do about it. I have no desire to cross this line, but if you do, we're all dead." thing. The heroes lost, but they're still around, pissed about the loss, but able to move on to the next task.

I would totally read it.

Good points, Joe. I'll go back and read Ultimate Power (ugh!) and the first three Ultimate Human issues (yay!) to double check.
