So there is a new Marvel NOW Punisher book written by Nathan Edmondson (whom I had not heard of before reading this #1 but apparently we've discussed him here because a tag for his name already exists).
It is...different. Frank is actually kind of a friendly guy; he spends time in a local diner and appears to have a cop friend. He also has a military contact for intel. He jokes around with them a lot and it's really weird if you're used to the MAX books.
He's still pretty brutal when it comes to bad guys (at least as much as can be shown in a non-MAX book).
Art is by Mitch Gerads and it's pretty great.
I'm just not sure how I feel about a Frank Castle who has friends that he jokes around with and he's not constantly saddled with the memory of his family.
