Does anyone actively rip DVDs? I've been experimenting with it and think I've found some good settings to use but had a few questions.
I'm decrypting DVDs using both DVD Decrypter (PC) and Mac the Ripper (Mac), then running the results through Handbrake. My main concerns are compatibility with iPhone/iPod, and Popcorn Hour.
The presets on the Mac version of Handbrake are different from PC. The preset I use on the Mac is called "Ipod Hi-res" and all I do is bump up the resolution to full resolution, and use 2-pass encoding. Makes for a decent sized file and good quality (I think it works out to 1500 kbps but my understanding is that the 2-pass encoding means it's better than actual 1500).
Here's an issue I'm having - when ripping DVDs of TV shows I turn on deinterlace, but on some shows the interlacing is still very noticable. Is there a way to fix this?
