I say this every time I start a new thread, but: I thought we already had a thread for this.
Apparently not though. Anyways, I bought the Quadrilogy for my birthday a couple weeks ago, so I have sort of a renewed interest in the subject.
Now, about the aliens themselves. I've gotten the impression that, while the aliens sort of alter the body chemistry of its host, they themselves sort of take on some characteristics of the host.... In the expanded universe, there are a variety of different castes in the alien species - dog aliens, gorilla aliens, scorpion aliens, white aliens, flying aliens, PredAliens, etc. So in like the first film, the alien bursts out of Kane's chest and eventually grows into a bipedal, humanoid.... I think that if the alien were to have, say, planted its seed inside of Jones the cat, the result would be a quadrupedal alien. I think such a thing happened to a dog in one of the movies, am I correct? So basically, the host's physiology influences that of parasite.
