The Last Airbender movie (watch the cartoon instead)

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender Movie

Another shot of Zuko, plus some Fire Nation soldiers.

I like the costumes. I think what they're trying to do with Zuko's scar is use Dev Patel's preexisting scar.

I doubt that's going to work.

Yeah, the scar needs to be much more prominant, maybe closer up it'll look okay. As long as we don't have that bald pony tail look I'm fine. Costumes are pretty good, their going in a good direction with them. More real and basic than overly complicated. I always like how the mic made it into the picture.

We've received word from Paramount confirming that young 10-year-old Korean-American actor Isaac Jin Solstein has been cast as 'Earthbending Boy' in The Last Airbender. Isaac's father, Eric Solstein, described the young boy's role as being "pretty high up on the cast list." When asked about the official title of the role, 'Earthbending Boy,' he thinks "most fans will be able to guess what character from the original cartoon that might represent."

So it's (presumably) Haru or a young Bumi.

As considerably less of a pretty boy and/or crazy boy.

Also, it recently occured to me that Zuko could get his scar durring the storyline, in order to streamline things.

Pretty cool. I was kind of hope to see the different kinds of bending. I really like the effect for air though.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender Movie

hmm... so Katara is being played by a girl that looks like Hermione Jr, no Toph in the cast list. Gran Gran being played by an old white woman, I'm trying really hard to give this the benefit of the doubt.

Appa better be effing adorable.

Fair enough. I've asked myself once or twice if I'm just in denial.

Oh.

Yeah, that's what I meant, he usually makes thrillers with "twist" endings.

Speaking of twists, what do you think the signiture twist will be this time?

Even if he sticks close to the source material, SOME PART either out of ignorance or humor, will be labeled a "shocking twist" just because it's Shamylan.

My guesses:

The Blue Spirit is Dev Patel/Zuko!
The white-haired princess turns into the moon!
Aang turns into a magical koi fish tidal wave!

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender Movie

Well, they are doing 3 movies of this (least last I saw mentioned) and Toph didn't come into the show until the 2nd season. So I'd imagine we'd see Toph in the sequel.

But I want her nooooow!

Yeah, I believe each movie well be an adaptation of each book, first movie being Book 1: Water
But I want her nooooow!

I do too.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender Movie

Of course!

The twist will be that the Fire Lord is actually
a melon! And the real power behind the throne is Toph Bei Fong, who will declare "This my house now, *****!" And the other two movies will be about everyone trying to save the world from Toph!

OK, I better stop now.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender Movie

Two new articles. The first one regards the director's thoughts on the film and his relationship with it.

Other than the conversion to live-action, Shyamalan said the only significant change he made to the original story was to strip away the cartoon's more slapstick humor — "fart jokes," he laughed — that had been written into the TV show for the very youngest viewers. The director noted that his "Airbender" has similarities to franchises like "The Lord of the Rings," "Harry Potter" and "The Matrix" — plus, he declared, "me smothered all over it!"

"I'm not good at disappearing into a movie," the director confessed. "But I would love to find it where my accent is complementary to the piece."

I admit, this has me worried.

The second article talks about sets and effects and Appa, and mentions that Sokka is "grounded."

You know except for Sokka being not as much a comic relief (which I can understand, but he still needs to have some humor) everything I read there sounded great. Seems like he has a great grasp on the series, specially the visuals.

Momo have been confirmed, and there's another article talking about the potential film trilogy:

I think Sokka is plenty funny as the guy who goes "I'm just a guy with a boomerang, I didn't ask for all this flying and magic..."
