I do like that it takes place 3 years after CK because that show is still stuck in 2020 or 2021 by last check.

Apparently, it won't have any of the CK stars in it. I wish it would, something like his wife or Sam or someone in his family. That would make sense to me because his wife would probably be like "Please don't do this again."

I did a cursory watch of it and it takes place in 2010...I would assume sometime during the summer going into fall. We don't see Christmas, so I think it's safe to assume that's the timeframe.

I found a timeline clue, Dre's first day of school is on June 20 (6月20日), the date appears before Dre goes to school, which is on a Sunday in 2010, but we could use June as the month of the start of the movie.

Yeah, it's weird. Researching the Chinese school system, they start and break the same time as America, so a June 6th school start doesn't make sense unless it's some sort of summer school or something. But, hell, I will go for June as a start date.

I thought better, even with my timelines clues, for me the better timeline from the movie is August 2009-July 2010. August because of Qixi Festival, that happened in Aug 26, 2009, then we have the emotional scene in June 8, 2010, then the tournament in later July 2010, but this is just my opinion.

He could already started school year, he started in Detroit in August/September 2008, then have winter break, then he continued in next year, 2009, but since he moved on, this time is in China. When the movie begins, like this, August 2008-June 2009, then August 2009 will be a new school year. What do you think? The movie is good, but the original KK is better.
