The Top 100 Films You've Ever Seen

Okay, this is a long process, so here's my list so far for movies from 1990-2006.

A lot of good movies I haven't seen for a long time and barely remember them (like Schindler's List), and a lot of good movies I just don't enjoy as much as others, so that's why there's a lot of comedies and action films over movies that are objectively a lot better. Also, the rankings aren't exactly perfect, but when I get my full list I'll be able to move them around better. Oh, and I put Jules and jim on there because Wiki's movie lists (which I'm using for this) doesn't have it and I didn't want to forget. Anyway.

I got up to 75 and realised I was beginning to list movies I didn't actually care about... I don't want to do that.

Then don't. That's why I didn't.

Any list of the 100 Greatets Movies ever made will be eerily similar to someone else's. So just do your favorite movies.

But that's what I'm saying. I don't have 100 favourite movies.

But its still a damn good movie... I hope djf is thinking of Addam's Family Reunion which makes me want to set my hair on fire... but the original is one of my favorite movies...

(I meant to swap it with Hook, but forgot, now Hook is 45 and AFV is 85)

But then again, anyone who dislikes Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a Skrull.

*gives Ultimatedjf a suspicious look*

I liked Kiss Kiss Bang Bang; I just can't see it in my Top 100 or heck, even in my Top 300.

And yes, it was the first Addams Family sequel that I saw 10 minutes of, and it was atrocious.

Joe Kalicki, I like what you've done. When I have a free few hours, I'll do a 100 list of films from 1990 to 2007.

I just used Wiki's lists and went back from 2006 each year until 1990. It's fairly time consuming, but better than doing it by memory. I'll probably add the 80s later today or tomorrow.

I'm still debating whether or not I should put 2007 in there yet.

Addams Family Values has decent parts but is just far too horrific for me. The first one understood the balance between horror and comedy better. The second was like a slightly funnier version of The Omen. Part of it is the cat thing in the very first scene. I tell ya, I wasn't up for much laughing right after that. Even the eagle thing at the camp... directly killing animals on-screen was just too much. The villain's fate was also way too corny.

The first one is a great film. The second took it way too far. Bring back the babushka!

Oh, and Joe: Office Space in the Top 20?:rockon:

Just joking about Manos.

Oh yeah, btw, P.S. - I HATE THE GODFATHER! The Godfather, along with Scarface, is the most overrated movie of all time! Yes, Godfather and Scarface BOTH are the most overrated!

GoodFellas is superior to Godfather. Godfather experts claim that the Godfather is an accurate depiction of the mob, when in fact it simply IS NOT!! It's too romanticized, and as a film, extremely freaking boring. All of the Godfathers suck. Thank you for your time.

Planet-Man, I don't understand... What's the big deal about killing lots and lots of animals? I totally do that every weekend. Gotta tell you, man, there's nothing like warm seal blood on your hands on a cold winter night.

But the first Addams Family lags in a lot of places, and the second one always makes me happy... Wednesday Addams is one of the greatest characters ever... Also: Gomez... I honestly don't care that you guys didn't like it (and I understand why), but its a movie that i loved as a kid and therefore still love today and I'm not going to try to justify it any further than that.

Also, Joe... Your list is great... Grosse Pointe Blank, Wonder Boys, Finding Neverland and I <3 Huckabees really ought to be on my list... I'll have to figure it out

Well, I've still got at least 60 years worth of good movies to put on there, so some of those may be dropped from mine as well.

Anybody like my list? Requiem For a Dream? Raging Bull? It's not really finished, but for the most part, it's all there.

Updated to include 1970-1989. A lot of great movies I barely remember (the Godfathers, Chinatowns, etc) so I can't in good consience put them on the list, though I fully intend to watch them again soon. Also, my list is pretty top heavy with newer films and hopefully when I narrow down my Top 100 I'll be able to do some more juggling.

Yeah that's cool . There are films I've heard are amazing e.g 2001: A Space Odyssey. That I've not seen :( . Nearly all my list I have on dvd. But i know what you mean. From what I've heard 2001: A Space Odyssey should be on my list but it's not :(

I've seen 2001: A Space Odyssey once and it was possibly the best thing I've ever seen and the worst thing I've ever seen. I don't know if it was good or bad. But it did make me think, so that's a positive.

Cool , I'm going to get it eventually. Just don't know when.

IMO, 2001: A Space Oddysey might be the most overrated movie ever made.*

A significant portion of it is good(the HAL plot, mainly), and the effects and technique are very impressive when you consider that it was made the same year as Planet of the Apes, which seems a lot older to me, but on the whole, I found it sooooo pretentious and boring. It was total Kubrickian overkill, and as mentioned earlier, he completely missed the point of the story, while Arthur C. Clarke nailed it in his novel, which really is one of the greatest science-fiction stories ever told.

*Schindler's List would be up there as well. It's a great movie and everything, but it usually gets a spot in the Top 5 of most 100-movie lists, and I think that's a bit much.
