New trailer

 So awesome!

Also :
When you pop in the disc, you'll be given a choice: Autobot or Decepticon campaign. The Decepticon campaign takes place first, but you can play them in either order. And while the two are tied together, you won't be playing the same scenarios from different sides. These are two separate stories and whichever side you choose believes they are the good guys.

"The story that we put together, we wanted to be more mature," Tieger said. "We wanted to be grittier and darker and dangerous. That meant taking those characters and figuring out who they were." Tieger views Optimus Prime, the Autobot leader, as someone who "doesn't really want to be the guy in charge." But at this critical moment in Transformers history, he is "coming to the conclusion that he is the right guy and even if he doesn't want it, he is the savior of their race. I wanted to [explore those] reasons a little deeper in this story."

I love this Megatron description :

Tieger and High Moon Studios have an interesting take on Megatron, who figures prominently in the Decepticon storyline. "I never really understood why Megatron was evil. He's just evil. Okay, but why is he evil? What I believe comes across in our game is that Megatron is the hero. That's what he believes. What he is doing and why he does what he does, he believes is the right thing to do. He just has such a force of will and determination that he believes that the end justifies the means. What he's doing and why he's doing it is a very clear objective for him. He's bringing Cybertron back to former glory. Cybertron has fallen from what he believes it should be and he is going to reset things. That's not evil in his mind."

Toy Fair 2010 - First Look at Three Stages of War For Cybertron Video Game!

Here at Toy Fair, Hasbro, Inc. and Activision Publishing were nice enough to team up and give us a preview of three stages from the publishing studio's upcoming video game Transformers: War for Cybertron. We were originally scheduled a hands-on preview, but Jason from Activision put a caveat out there that what was being shown today was not final at all. That being said, he also said that he really wanted to show us the game.

First of all, the game play. He says that is you have picked up Gears of War or Gears of War 2, then when you pick up the controller for this game, you will feel right at home. The feel of this over-the-shoulder third person shooter will feel "instantly recognizable," which he said it two or three times just to drive the idea home.

The game is also designed to be a co-op game and friends may jump in and out of the game as they please and it will not effect your progress in the game. The example given is that when a friend who is playing the game with you needs to leave to eat dinner, s/he may choose to do so and jump in after s/he has finished his/her dinner.

You know, I was kind of amblivilent to this game. Graphics are as good as they're going to get, and trailers aren't indicators of a good game.

But now...

I need to get a Xbox. Or at least a decent PC for gaming.

First Hands-On

All of which goes to explain why War for Cybertron feels so damned good. Paced similarly to old-school shooters like Unreal Tournament and Quake 3, WFC is fun and very fast. The transformation element adds a fantastic amount of options to both combat and strategy. Transformations for now are handled by clicking in on the left analog stick, and each form offers its own advantages and weaknesses. Vehicle forms are faster and highly mobile, but can withstand less abuse and can be locked onto by tracking weapons. Robot forms have more combat options and can use special abilities - like the scientist's ability to heal other Transformers, or powers that prevent the opposing team from transforming or activating their own powers. Other abilities include sentry drones (particularly useful for the Conquest modes, where you'll hold points on the map as long as possible) to a shockwave that damages all enemies around you and hampers their vision. It's hard to know exactly what to expect as you wade into combat, leading to battles that feel frantic and unpredictable.

I seriously need to assess whether an XBOX 360 would be a good thing to bring to college.

Sorry about the double post.

Rumor has it that this game will serve as a prequel to the upcoming "Transformers: Prime" cartoon.

I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'm still a bit irritated at the cancellation of Transformers Animated, and most Transformer shows put the emphasis on toy-selling rather then a good story.

But it's not been confirmed and there's no need to freak out until it is, so just thought I'd let you know.

That'd make a lot of sense here's why :

1)
The story isn't part of any previous movie or comic series. It's brand new, and takes place before the Transformers leave Cybertron and head to Earth. Hasbro is even adopting this story as canon for the franchise.

From the first page ign link I posted.

2) Prime & War for Cybertron = both in production around same time. Makes sense the writers would talk to each other.

3) Prime = 3d Animated. So it could look like the game's cutscenes polished up.

I'm 100% okay with this. The game looks great and I hope Prime is good.

Fair enough. Honestly, the main reason I'm apprehensive is because I miss TFA.

If the game shows that it can tell a good story (which it looks like it will be able too, but trailers can be deceiving) then I'll probably change my mind.

I liked Animated too but I'm exited for prime.

Kotaku was recently told on their radio podcast that tomorrow Xbox 360 owners can download the online multiplayer demo for Transformers: War for Cybertron. This news was revealed by Matt Tieger who is one of the developers for the upcoming robot-fest.

Tieger also stated that the 360 will be the only system getting a demo for the game…bummer.

So, what side will you take in the Cybertronian war? Do you plan on playing the demo? Are you ticked about it only being on the 360?

from http://www.gametrailers.com/news/transformers-war-for-cybertron/2165

:( shame it's 360 only. But I can live with it
