Ultimate Fantastic Four #30 cover

Yep, Millar and Land's run is the best since Ellis' and Immonens.

duh...

but yeah, this looks freaking sweet...i LOVE me some zombie action...and it's great to see doom back in the mix even if it is an alternate version or he has boots for his goat feet

People are assuming this story is alternate just because of Doom's look on the cover. I, however, think this is the ultimate Doom.

I don't know about the legs....but then again you gotta think about it. Different artist. That might've been Immonem's version of him. But I don't think it was well recieved and now that Land is doing Doom....he's probably gonna draw him different. It looks as if instead of doing his version of Immomen's Doom...he drew inspiration from this statue:

Now that I think about it...thats the statue exactly.

does look similar. How do you think this will tie into the end of Marvel Zombies? Maybe something to do with what Zombie GIant Man is doing? I think the virus is gonna be dormant from here on out. There's no way these guys will run around without infecting people if it isn't.

While I loved the way Ellis wrote Doom, I HATED the way he looked. The hooves were just too much.

THIS looks and sounds great, however. Can't wait.

I really love the look of Doom... It was different and made him more of a freak. Ben can't come out the only one with an obvious physical deformation. The hooves were a nice touch as well as the metal being his new skin. I wish Millar follows suit with this in his arc... Covers aren't real good indications of what is on the inside, right?

The hoofs made no sense. Were they supposed to be symbolic of something? I've seen a lot of people say that Doom was the fifth element of technology. I always thought the hoofs represented an animalistic side of an individual symbolizing that progress in tech and power is not really progression of humanity. But the hoofs did look stupid. I just hope that it is explained how he lost them.

Yeah, the hooves made no sense going by the element theme.

And perhaps the zombies manage to contact Ultimate Doom?

This sounds to me that this is 4 separate events, and that the zombie F4 are not the Frightful Four.

We'll see.
I see it that way as well.

So now Land traces over pictures of collectibles for his work. At least that's a step up above porn.

And 28 days... isn't that a zombie movie?
Wouldn't be surprised if the reference is intentional on Millar's part, he being a big media-polluted doodyhead and all that.

oh. And DOom is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to 616. This better change.
We haven't seen enough of him to make that judgment. Sure, he's just as big a royal dickhead as his 616 counterpart. And he's good at tinkering with microcomputing technology, creating mind-control tattoos and cybernetic mosquitoes and has the same self-superior attitude and believes that he deserves leadership.

But the similarities end there. The differenes lie beyond his powers though. Even the nature of their arrogance differs.

616 Doom believes it is his supreme intelligence and his self-taught knowledge that earns him the right to rule.

Ultimate Doom believes he was destined to be a ruler because his daddy said so, but he spends all his time trying to prove to himself that he is worthy of such a birthright.

And I liked the damn donkey legs, so shut up y'all.

The only way I would accept a change in his appearance would be if Millar said he wasn't finished his transformation at that time yet... That's entirely possible, anyway... Plus, that would add suspicion to whether or not the Fantastic Four are finished changing from their explosion...

Wait. Who are you and what have you done with the real MwoF?

Have you seen porn nowadays???? Wait--what am I saying....of course you've seen porn lately. As a matter of fact you're reading this post in one window and watching porn in another.

Anyways--with the wat porn is now...anything is a step up from porn. Starring as a 3rd-rate extra beeing spit on in Saved By the Bell: The College Years is better than porn.

Yeah....me too. I thought it was a great departure from his 616 version. Aside from him dressed in rags---it was, IMO, one of the best ultimatzations to date.

While there's nothing officially stated, I don't think Doom was intended as the element of technology; there's no such thing. Doom seems to be the element of metal, which is a valid fifth element in a number of belief systems I think.

For one, I kinda liked the hooves and the hobo look. Although I'll quite happily read a dictator Doom. But I think Ellis' idea was to build up to that slowly, as opposed to just introducing him as a monarch outright, like he was originally.

I liked the hoofs better, and i would like to see a rise to power eventually maybe him taking over Latvernia through some kind of cunning diplomacy or something like that, it's to bad that we can't use the explanation of unstable molecules to fix the problems of continuity here.

Okay wow, I'm sry but this looks KICK ***! Alright screw the whole hooves thing and how it happened, I think it has to be just metal boots covering up the hooves (which in my opinion looks 10 times better) as for the costume, I love Ultimate FF, but Dooms costume from 616 is the best. I'm sry but the Ghetto green **** he wore the first time looked horrible. And this just fits, it looks awsome. As for the Fearsome foursome and explaining everything, I'm sure they will get to it in time. But overall, the UFF have just gotten better and better in my opinion. And this arc will by far be definetly my favorite one.

Aside from the normal looking feet, Doom also looks bulkier than before.

Maybe this is the part where they'll be explaining how this connects with the references to Doctor Doom in UMTU. I'm a little disappointed at Land for blatantly copying almost exactly from the bust though. The only difference is the throne and where Doom's head is turning. His horribly-decayed zombie FF is sweet however.
