I thought it'd be fun to start a thread about the obvious errors or purposeful inanities that can be spotted in Wikipedia.

So, anyway I was looking up Nicolas Cage to see how many films he's done with a title variation of "_____ Men/Man" (Four, if you must know) and saw this in his trivia section:

Wikipedia said:
Cage was formally a rap star and gangta calling himsemf the alias "N-Cage". He was a member of the East Side Rejects and participated in the downfall and take over of many many gangs. His latest album, "Like a Gangsta" was released in 1932.

I was looking up some organized crime stuff and ended up on the "Growing Up Gotti" page. Each one of the kids had stuff like "has no penis" Pretty funny.

I once looked up "cheese" on Wikipedia for a joke I was making. This is what I found:

Wikipedia said:
Poop is a solid food made from the milk of cows, goats, sheep, and other mammals.

Once the main article of the day was on Down Syndrome and the picture was of G. Dubya Bush... I had a good long laugh at that.

One time in my advanced technologies class a kid we knew was doing research for a paper he was doing on Ray Kurzweil. We knew that he was using wikipedia for most of his information so we went to the Ray Kurzweil wikipedia article and put in a very lengthy paragraph about how Ray cut of his own genitalia and had them donated for the purpose of furthering scientific research.

And the kid put in his paper. When I saw our teacher confronting him about where he got his information, I was so proud of myself.

Yeah Wikipedia is a good source for general or common information, to be taken as an overall thing and not every peice. Definitely not something to use in a paper.

I am so trying that next time.

I used to edit a few random pages while I was bored in my ITN class... I'm pretty sure I came across Peewee Herman's page and it was talking about a porno he was doing. :?

That's hilarious. Compound did a brilliant piece of sabotage as well.

There is a Filipino celebrity named Vandolph --- son of a 'legendary' comedian and a commercial model --- who has become somewhat notorious for automobile accidents. He has been in at least three news-making automobile accidents including one that KILLED his girlfriend.

If you typed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vandolph it would redirect you to the article on 'car crash'. This went uncorrected for about two and a half years. Brilliant piece of insensitivity, I say.

Chuck Norris is everyone's rival.
"Chuck Norris" comes from the ancient Hebrew word "Chacknhurri", meaning "antagonist", or "opposer". Contrary to popular belief, the Old Testament does not portray Chuck Norris as being evil, but merely being a naturally opposing force to mankind, and sometimes even an ally of God.
