Re: Whose behind the Clone Saga?

I voted Norman Osborne as wasn't he behind the 616 clone story?

Re: Whose behind the Clone Saga?

I say Doc Ock, also because of the
104 cover
.

Although I don't buy USM, so I have no idea what I'm talking about. Though I have read the Clone Saga thus far, most of the backstory is pretty hazy for me.

Re: Whose behind the Clone Saga?

Doc Ock is going to be involved, but I doubt he masterminded it.

I think it's Richard Parker.

Re: Whose behind the Clone Saga?

I don't see the logic there... If anything I think the cover is to mislead you.

Exactly. I think Norman Osbourne is pulling the strings behind everything. It could lead up to Death of a Goblin very nicely, don't you think?

Re: Whose behind the Clone Saga?

thats true but is death of the goblin a confirmed story arc?

Pretty positive. Its the last Bendis/Bagley USP story.

Hopefully it will put an end to the Science-Fiction aspects of the book, which is not Bendis' strongest genre... And lead to more Ultimate Knights, Kingpin, Daily Bugle, Daredevil, gritty crime stories... Bendis and crime = Gold.

Re: Whose behind the Clone Saga?

I will play now play my role as noobie who was introduced to the comics through the movies and vote for Norman.

But I really wouldn't be surprised by ol' Otto. It's not like he wasn't had any involvment with Oscorp. I just don't see him as the clone-making type. :/

Bah. If the Green Goblin's gonna die, it should be in issue 122! :p

By the way, the grammar police said that the title is wrong. It's "Who's", not "Whose".

...*kicked*

Actually Norman was behind the actual clone saga in 616.

Also I recall hearing originally Doc Ock was suppose to be the one behind it in 616

It's not just the cover. It says, "Spider-Man faces off against the ascendant master of many arms: Doctor Octopus, in the greatest battle of the web spinner's young career." You're not going to end an 8 issue arc, an event that he's been pumping out filler arcs (Deadpool/Morbius) just to reach with a huge climactic fight with someone who isn't responsible for all this crap. "Norman's responsible for all the trouble in my life. Let me kick Doc Oc's ***." What the hell kind of ending would that be. I rip on Bendis a lot, but even he wouldn't pull that.

Doc Oc for the win.

How many loose ends does Bendis leave with his stories? HoM? Secret War? You know who you're talking about, right? This isn't the end of the Clone Saga by a long shot. He might fight Doc Ock here but Doc Ock cloning Peter makes no sense at all. People want him behind it because he's a fan favorite villain. Too bad. He never showed any interest in the way Norman, Connor's, Rielly did. I think you guys should take a step back and think about it.

I realize the rammifications of this arc will last on and on, but it has to have some sort of conclusion at the end of this arc. And why would the conclusion pit spidey against someone who isn't responsible. From a story telling standpoint there has to be some kind of resolution to this major arc.

And point of fact, I actually don't want Doc Oc to be behind it. For the same reason you said. He has no prior motivation, whereas other characters have had a sustained interest in Peter's powers. But what I want and what Bendis writes have proven to be two very different things of late. The only way I can see Oc not being the one behind it is if he was hired to do the science and then the real bad guy escapes into the night or whatever. Which would suck.

Is this a trick question, because I pick Bendis?

I'm sure it's gotta be Osborne........but the Jan solit has all signs pointing to Ock.

I'm still staying with Osborne...and if it ain't him---then bad form.
