Zombies ate my continuity

The Zombie universe is ever-growing with really weird ramifications for the Ultimate Universe continuity.

I like the new dimension added by all these other universes tying into the UU. Really, as long as 616 never crosses over, a handful of smaller alternate universes just enriches the original, I think.

But this zombie stuff is really treading some dangerous waters.

I suppose the Army of Darkness stuff could just be written off, since that universe is untouchable, legally, to future writers, so it's just a weird quirk that Ash happens to be present for the most important event in the universe's history.

But Zombie Wolverine in Exiles is harder to ignore. And not just because he dies in the end. That could somehow be explained away. I still like the inclusion of these issues in any official zombie timeline. And since they took place on another alternate Earth and not 616 anyway, it shouldn't cause too much damage. Still just a hop, skip and jump away from 616, but since all the other Wolverines were from non-616 universes, it still falls short of a crossover.

Also, for anyone who missed it, there was a one-page Marvel Zombies story in an issue of Wizard a couple months ago. It was a parody of the old Hostess ads. But I see no reason why it couldn't be included as canon, just for fun. It doesn't disrupt anything and even kind of fits around the beginning of issue 2, I believe. Which is where I'd put the Exiles issues, too, for that matter.

Anyway, just some thoughts and concerns.

But they never actually stated that Wolvie in the Exiles was from THE Marvel Zombies universe*. Think about it, there are literally an infinite amount of alternate universes out there, there's gotta be more that one that have zombie characters on it.

*or did they?

See it bugs me when people say that the Ultimate Universe and the 616 verse are two different multiverses. The whole concept behind a multiverse is the idea that all decisions play out, that everything that can exist somewhere does. Now f you want them never to cross over thats fine. I agree on that, but don't say it can't. That just goes against the idea of a multiverse.

They didn't actually say it, but they also didn't identify it as an alternate-zombie-universe Wolverine either, and did have a brief scene of the Marvel Zombies fighting the Silver Surfer.

Well, I don't want them to crossover, but I still want the Ultimate Universe to have alternate realities/other dimensions.

So I guess I like all the newer universes to be part of it since everything's still pretty contained and fresh. You can get in on the ground floor. I only started reading Squadron Supreme because of Ultimate Power and it was very easy to get all the back issues (even easier with trades, I suppose).

But with a 616 crossover it would be impossible to just jump in like that and get the "whole story."

I'm an insufferable completist, I know.

By the way, I forgot to mention it, but that Wizard story was drawn by Sean Phillips, another reason to include it.

I thought it was pretty much officially established that the UU and 616 WERE different multiverses?

And when did Ash from AoD appear in Marvel Zombies?

Umm...Tom Brevort has already addressed the Zombie Wolvie issue. He said it was not the one from the Zombie Ultimate Universe.

To be blunt, I don't care what Tom Brevoort said.

There's nothing in the issue that says it isn't the same Zombie Wolverine.

He's the only one of the Wolverines recruited who isn't given a specific Earth number and his world's featured in a scene directly out of the Marvel Zombies mini.

For my personal canon, it's the same guy and anything not published in an actual comic book will persuade me otherwise.

And I highly doubt there will ever be a comic that contradicts the theory that they're the same character.

Honestly, how many Zombie Wolverines do we need? I know I could sleep better if there was just one.

BLAURGH!!!! BLAURGHBLAURGHBLAURGH!

You're looking at it all wrong. There's only one Multiverse. Period. Its why we saw the Marvel Universe destroyed in Crisis on Infinite Earths. Because the basic theory that supports the multiverse itself states that everything that can happen happens somewhere does happen somewhere, so multiple multiverses would be redundant because they would literaly be the exact same thing, an all encoplasing EVERYTHING when viewed in an abstract. Its metaphysics at its finest. Like when Hawking said that the earth exists in a cone outside of time (with its starting point at the sun) simply called elsewhere.

Considering he's the damn editor, to be blunt, I figured it matters

To be blunt, you're an idiot

Except the editor and creator of the comic itself, when he said, IT IS NOT THE SAMN WOLVERINE.

Honestly, how many Zombie Wolverines do we need? I know I could sleep better if there was just one.

Cause you're being stupid, I say about 12

But. . .there are multiple multiverses. DC, Marvel, Image, hell, Cheers on TV is in its own Multiverse. They encompass the Omniverse, which is all Multiverses.

I have no idea where all that came from.

Editors and writers change. Anything can slip in an out of continuity at any time.

I like thinking that they're the same character, and well within my rights to believe so.

And I'm positive that Earth number was not given in Exiles.

But as I'm an idiot (for some reason?) I could always be mistaken.

Zombiverse is also known as Earth-2149.

EDIT: Oops, already been said. Oh well, double Proof.

Hmm.... I didnt know that 616-marvel got "destroyed" during crisis on infinite earths. Thats pretty cool.

But wasnt the point of crisis on infinite earths that the multiverse itself was compressed into a single universe? If thats true then the DC "multiverse" must be different than the marvel multiverse. I never read the original story though, so its entirely possible I'm wrong.

Yeah. What he said.

Baxter, I dont want to argue or piss you off (this seems to be a pet peeve for you?), but I was under the impression the reason U.U. and 616 would never cross over was that they are different multiverses. Although if Hibiki is correct and the marvel zombies has a number assigned to it, UU and 616 must be the same multiverse.

This is freaking confusing. Bottom line is it wasnt marvel zombies wolverine in Exiles. It was just an easter egg.

According to one of the Handbooks, the Ultimate U, Zombie U, and Supreme Power U are all in the same multiverse as 616. The latter two are much higher in numbers (30,000-ish range, I think), separating them from 616.

Of course, I'm still under the impression that Ultimate Reed's "Universe Stacking" theory kind of proved they are in seperate multiverses, but who knows.

Huh. I guess they are the same multiverse.
