Stargate

Awesome episode this week!

Daniel finally returns after vanishing at the end of The Quest, as a Prior! But Merlin was in his head and stopped him succumbing to Ori brainwashing, and so he devised a plot to finish building the Sangraal, and fly the Ori ship carrying it into the Ori galaxy to kill all the Ori. They get it through the Supergate, carrying Adria as well, but they have no idea if it had the effect needed, as the gate then opened sending about 7 Ori ships through....

I can't wait for the two movies to come out. Alls I gotta say is that O'Neill BETTER be in them, even though the first one is gonna finish up the Orei storyline.

Man, this is my favorite show ever! I can't believe Sci-Fi canceled it :x I mean, I know the show has gone on for a very long time, but if they had canceled it earlier, when they wrapped up the Goa'uld story, then I would have been upset, but understood.

But, now they got this Ori storyline. I'll admit, at first had me thinking Goa'ulds with more effects, but the more I watched the more I realized that this
Plus, the series wasn't technically about the struggle between SGC and the well dressed snakes. Sure that was a major part of it, but the Ancients have always been a major theme as well, and the Ori are a part of the Ancients' history. Also, a major theme has always been "what makes a god?". The Goa'ould used flashy technology to trick people into worshipping them. But the Ori are as close to gods as you can get without actually being one. Does the simple fact that they have so much power make them a god, or is it how the being wields that power and such. The Ori are a good way to continue that theme.
is exactly what they were going for, and it's actually really good. Plus, Morena Baccarin is brilliant as Adria.
She really shows the struggle between the character wanting her mother, Vala's, approval, and her evil Ori intentions in a really great and subtle way :D

But what really irks me is that they gave the cast and crew the news at the 200th episode celebration. While they were celebrating! :furious:

I don't know about the first one, but RDA is in the second movie, Continuum.

Anyway, only ten days until us Americans get to see the last ten episodes! :D

Not me. My cable company dropped Sci-Fi after season 8. I just bought Atlantis season 2 on DVD though. I couldn't find SG-1 season 9. Which I guess is a good sign.

Anderson isn't going to be in the first movie, but will be in the second. Amanda Tapping is going to be in 2/3 of the Atlantis season 4 episodes too. Michael Shanks is moving to 24.

The third series is called Stargate: Universe and will apparently have something to do with the "ninth chevron," whatever that is.

I don't believe Season 9 is out on DVD yet. I haven't seen it mentioned.

And yes, Michael is moving to 24. Already posted it on the 24 thread a few days ago. Woo! :D

Having not wtached 24 I didn't read that.

Season 9 is definately out though.

Yeah, S9 is out, I own it :)

Anyway, they've always used seven chevrons to travel to a planet, six being the planets address and the last being the point of origin. However, in Season 2's The Fifth Race, Jack, with his enhanced knowledge thanks to the Ancient head-grabber, uses eight chevrons to go to the Asguard's home planet Othalla, in the galaxy Ida. Turns out the eighth is used to calculate longer distances, and was used to get to the Pegasus Galaxy in Atlantis. However, there are nine chevrons on the gate, though two of those are usually hidden by the ramp, and no one has every explained what the ninth is for.

So, I'm excited that it will be answered in the third series. Now, all that remains is what do the Furlings look like? :D

Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis has just begun airing here in Sweden (well about two months ago anyway). The first season of Stargate SG-1 aired years ago but apparently it wasn't such a big success so it was canceled. Now a different channel has started to air it and Atlantis and I really like it. One episode of SG-1 every weekday and two episodes of Atlantis on Fridays is great. The episode today (SG-1) was 1969 from the second season. Good stuff.

Well, it is on ALL the time here. I mean I've watched about 20 hours of Stargate in the last 3 days thanks to the Sci Fi Channel and my DVR.

I have no Sci-Fi Channel. . .

The only time I can watch it is in syndication on Saturday afternoons. But they're a season behind.

But I have my DVDs at least.

I didn't for the longest time. It was part of the normal cable line up till Comcast started all this Digital crap. Once they did that I could only watch on the basement TV, and that one was always under the control of my father so he could watch movies in diffrent languages on IFC. About a month ago we got the DVR set up for the living room TV and I've gone a little nuts.

It's on all the time, alright.

Saw the return episodes, liked them both. I'm a fan of SG-1 more than Atlantis, but Atlantis was definetly better than SG-1 last Friday.

It was more of a traditional Stargate episode than SG1 was.

And it had Replicators. I love the Replicators. If the series became SG teams against Replicators for the next couple years I'd be happy.

I saw all of the last season on Friday, when I took it off from work. Sci-Fi showed every episode.

Somehow, it sucked me in.

then, I missed the premier.

No worries, it's Sci-Fi, they'll show it twenty times.

A lot of other people are saying that Atlantis was definitely better than SG-1, too, but I liked the SG-1 premiere better. Don't get me wrong, The Return, part 2 was great, but for me The Quest, part 2 is, like, one of the greatest Stargate episodes ever! :D

I love the parts with Mitchell, Vala, Daniel and Merlin. The focus being on watching Daniel sacrifice himself rather than being more from Daniel's POV was great, and I absolutely loved Mitchell telling Vala that this was the hard part and how she really was part of the team.

Also, Ba'al got punched! A lot of Goa'uld's deserve to be punched, but him especially! "Merlin's little trick on my vocal chords expired the same moment he did." "Yet another reason to morn his passing."

Puff! Ahahaha! Oh, but it was pointed out somewhere that they really didn't face a dragon, but wyvern, instead, (dragons have four legs and wings, wyverns have two legs and wings.)

I also just love the open ending! I mean, it leaves room for so many possibilities for the last nine episodes :D This episode was just perfect for me. So, I definitely loved Atlantis too, (how can you not like anything with Jack? :D) but I just loved the team dynamic and the Daniel/Merlin plot. Plus, no one felt left out; all five of the characters seemed to get to do important stuff without it seeming crowded.
