Dreamcasting # 18: Jim Lee's WildC.A.T.s!

Clooney as Emp is BRILLIANT. The 'winsome grin' is not only spot on from an aesthetic perspective, but the idea of an outspoken fella like Clooney playing a 'worldchanger' corporate billionaire is outstanding.

Thanks for the understanding.

Of course, I might come across as a teeny bit of a hypocrite for not having done the Miracleman cast myself, but I actually did try to by downloading all the issues and reading them... but alas, I could not do it all in time.
I commend you for trying.
I once e-mailed a bunch of UCers the first 16 issues because I think they're just awesome and there ain't no way to buy them at the moment (which is a huge shame - really is; the benefits of a MIRACLEMAN film would be the end of this litigation...)
My laptop crashed a while back and I lost all the issues you sent me. Very sad.

I'm still dreaming of republished Miracleman stuff. What would be great if someone like Marvel started republishing it is that we'd get a whole sort of renewal of the old property. I'd expect every big time artist and their mother to be clamoring to do new posters and covers and whatnot.

I may actually get more votes here than entries.

And we usually get less than 10 votes per round in this game.

My cast is done.

All that needs to be done is find the right pics....and post my reason/vision for the characters.

So it should be done by deadline. I'll just have to make sure that the woman doesn't distract me much.

Damn womyn! If only they weren't so feminine!

Why... why can't a woman be more like a man?

PROFESSOR HIGGINS:
Why can't a woman be more like a man?
Men are so honest, so thoroughly square;
Eternally noble, historically fair.
Who, when you win, will always give your back a pat.
Why can't a woman be like that?

Why does every one do what the others do?
Can't a woman learn to use her head?
Why do they do everything their mothers do?
Why don't they grow up, well, like their father instead?

Why can't a woman take after a man?
Men are so pleasant, so easy to please.
Whenever you're with them, you're always at ease.

Would you be slighted if I didn't speak for hours?

COLONEL PICKERING:
Of course not.

PROFESSOR HIGGINS:
Would you be livid if I had a drink or two?

COLONEL PICKERING:
Nonsense.

PROFESSOR HIGGINS:
Would you be wounded if I never sent you flowers?

COLONEL PICKERING:
Never.

PROFESSOR HIGGINS:
Well, why can't a woman be like you?

One man in a million may shout a bit.
Now and then, there's one with slight defects.
One perhaps whose truthfulness you doubt a bit,
But by and large we are a marvelous sex!

Why can't a woman take after a man?
'Cause men are so friendly, good-natured and kind.
A better companion you never will find.

If I were hours late for dinner would you bellow?

COLONEL PICKERING:
Of course not.

PROFESSOR HIGGINS:
If I forgot your silly birthday, would you fuss?

COLONEL PICKERING:
Nonsense.

PROFESSOR HIGGINS:
Would you complain if I took out another fellow?

Pickering
Never.

PROFESSOR HIGGINS:
Why can't a woman be like us?

PROFESSOR HIGGINS:
Why can't a woman be more like a man?
Men are so decent, such regular chaps;
Ready to help you through any mishaps;
Ready to buck you up whenever you're glum.
Why can't a woman be a chum?

Why is thinking something women never do?
And why is logic never even tried?
Straightening up their hair is all they ever do.
Why don't they straighten up the mess that's inside?

Why can't a woman behave like a man?
If I was a woman who'd been to a ball,
Been hailed as a princess by one and by all;
Would I start weeping like a bathtub overflowing,
Or carry on as if my home were in a tree?
Would I run off and never tell me where I'm going?
Why can't a woman be like me?

I love my cast so much. Plus I've got a new round that I think will blow everyone away.

Jack Kirby's Fourth World

Jacob Marlowe, aka Lord Emp - CGI but with the voice of Ron Perlman!

Hadrian, aka Spartan - Brad Pitt. I want to see Brad Pitt play a machine that's also a superhero that's also a businessman. I think it would be fun.

Priscilla Kitaen, aka Voodoo - Megan Fox. They are both sultry foxes and this movie isn't exactly an intellectual one.

Cole Cash, Grifter - Nathan Fillion. I just want him playing the badass.

Zannah of Kera, aka Zealot - Lucy Lawless is a brilliant choice and I'm stealing it. I deserve it, since we're both New Zealanders. Amerikan scum.

Jeremy Stone, aka Maul - Did Bass choose Johnny Deep? I can't remember and I'm too lazy to look back. But that's a good choice. I can't actually think of anyone for this. Actually, I will choose Benicio Del Toro, because he was hilarious in Snatch and I want to see him playing a horny scientist.

Reno Bryce, aka Warblade - Antonio Banderas is a great choice. ****ing Bass. I like his cast.

Void - I would pick Milla Jojovich or whatever her name is because she's Russian but that's boring. So CGI with the voice of Ron Perlman! But not really Ron Perlman.

Yeah. I didn't put much thought into this, but neither did Jim Lee when he created the characters.

When's the deadline?

I'm doing a cast.
27th, noon time, GMT.

Actually, I thought the whole point of the exercise was to reimagine it in that special way that movies can sometimes make a property more interesting.

I mean yes, Jim Lee and Brandon "I wrote everything in Wildstorm" Choi were uninspired hacks... but on paper the characters aren't bad. Hell, I'd love to say Ellis write stories featuring intelligence-reducing size-growing Nobel Prize-winning scientists.

There is too much Nathan Fillion love going on in Dreamcasting threads. Name something he's done that has been successful that hasn't been a TV show or a straight-to-video release. Dammit.

WHY?

Firefly sucked. So did Slither. This guy is overrated. I vote him off actor island.

There I said it. No, I'm not dreamcasting this one because W.I.L.D.X-Men was always boring to me. Next round, please.

No it didn't.

I'd give this POTD if I could.

Firefly sucked.

Just to add to a point.

Mole... dammit. We were good with the Vader pics! Why would you bring up DRACULA 2000?

You suck, Mole.

Thanks, Mole, for bringing up Dracula 2000. You just proved my point.

Though, Dracula 3000 featuring the equally awe-inspiring acting talents of one Casper Van Dien (or is it Van Diem... or is it Van Who Gives a Flying Rat's Bunghole?) was much worse.

Willverine FTW.

Also, Serenity was just a big-screen continuation of Firefly which did a really quick "hellogoodbye" routine at theaters, with Nathan Fillion playing a cut-rate Han Solo type. Sure, it had a cult following, but so did Babylon 5, and if you want to try and argue that Bruce Boxleitner or Claudia Christian are good actors then that argument is just going to fall on deaf ears.

So I'll give that to your beloved Nathan. He's better than Bruce Boxleitner and Claudia Christian. And David Hasselhoff, except during the Knight Rider days because the Hoff was on top back then.
