This is going to be fun. But a little bit difficult, since I have an insanely clear and mostly original view of what Julia and O'Brian would look like.

Your library doesn't have 1984?I really want to cast this but I can't until I've read the book and I can't read the book because my library is taking forever to get me a copy.
Sigh.
Some good choices so far though.
Your library doesn't have 1984?
I'm not exactly a psychotic fan of the book, but seriously, how can your library not have that book?
Wow, American education is really going down the toilet if they can't stock their libraries with 1984.

Mole you seriously need to read the book. In my opinion it's one of the top ten greatest books of the 20th century. And for those of you adapting the movie you are wrong. This is the book I'm going off of.
Okay, one, I'm not American. I'm in New Zealand, you Chinese ****.
My bad. Seriously, I apologize. I keep saying that and no one corrects me.Okay, one, I'm not American. I'm in New Zealand, you Chinese ****.
just curious what do you call people from New Zealand? New Zealandans? New Zealandians ? New Zealish?
I would say New Zealanders
I would hope that no one spoils this for any of the members who haven't yet read this masterpiece. The ending is truly astonishing and darkly perfect.
AFAIK, the acceptable nickname is Kiwi... and it doesn't seem to carry any kind of derogatory connotations.just curious what do you call people from New Zealand? New Zealandans? New Zealandians ? New Zealish?
Well since you guys are a bunch of picky bastards I changed my Big Brother.
Yeah seriously, I'm surprised those of you planning to read it are in here. In my opinionJulia handing him that note halfway through the book is in competition for the greatest and most pleasing twist in any book I've ever read.
Oh **** you.Winston Smith: Daniel Day Lewis

Lets face it. Daniel Day Lewis might just be the best actor out there right now. Though he doesn't do a lot of movies, the ones in which he is in almost always lead to a best picture nomination. A movie like 1984 would be enough to interest him. He fits in with the overall description of Winston. I don't think I need to convince anyone that he has the acting chops to pull off such a role.
Definitely. The first part of the books sinks you deep into Winston's world of black depression and absolute, utter hopelessness and then Julia hands him the note and you keep thinking, 'Ooo, I bet she's in The Brotherhood or something' and Winston reads the note...And it's like the whole universe lights up. It's brilliant. There's love, there's hope, there's something worth living for. I couldn't stop smiling after that scene.
