My do-it-yourself Miracleman TPBs

I decided I wanted to re-read Miracleman the other day, so I got out my lol indie Miracleman custom TPBs. And I had forgotten that I never put covers on them.

After looking through them, I decided I wanted to spit them into 2 collections rather than duplicate the 5 like was done originally. So I "unbound" all of them, which was a major pain because I put them together with Gorilla Glue and cheesecloth. It was designed to not come apart (I think it was specified for use in a hurricane but I'm not sure) and it didn't. The pages came out with some force and without too much damage, but I had to trim the edges off to get all of the tiny glue remnants off. It took an entire afternoon.

I found an awesome video tutorial on Youtube on how to hardcover bind books. I went to a craft store yesterday and got all of the material and I rebound the book blocks (read: pages) into 2 volumes - Moore's 16 issues in one and the Gaiman issues in the other (since Bass said they do not actually exist), along with the 3 Miracleman: Apocrypha issues (which I placed directly after Gaiman's Golden Age arc) and the scans from the unreleased issue #25 that were found in a fan magazine. I had originally intended to leave #23, #24 and the #25 pages out because the story was incomplete (it was to be a 6-issue arc) but I changed my mind and tacked them onto the end. omg dvd-style extras lol!!!11

I checked the book blocks this morning and they seemed OK. Hopefully tonight I can bind the outer block pages and begin cutting the cover for assembly.

Probably not to many of you care, but I thought it would be good to document this in case someone decides to do something similar.

I just looked through this thread after it was updated. That's a really cool idea. Also doing it as a hardcover is cool too. I couldn't do that. I would be way to lazy to even try  but hopefully it turns out great for you.

Thanks. The video makes it look incredibly easy, if not time-consuming. But I think it will be worth it in the end. I won't bother posting pics as I go but I'll post some of the finished books.

Can I buy one from you? Make me an OMNIBUS!

I think for Christmas, E should just send Miracleman TPBs to everyone who wants them. :D

Seriously, how much to make copies?

Just the printing alone would be a couple hundred dollars or so. I printed them at my dad's print shop at the time, which he no longer owns so I don't have access to "free" printing anymore.

Just tell E "Hey E bring it with you to show us at a convention" When he shows up with his Hardback (note : now it's a hard back not a paper back doesn't title need editing? :p) Place an Egg Mcmuffin on a table. While E is distracted eating the muffin, Steal it and run.

Why over think it.... You'd be a terrible supervillain.

You take his son hostage, and put him in an elaborate death trap. See, simple.

 and of course during the elaborate death trap you look away thus giving him a chance to escape

-.- No, you draw them in with babbling about some over thought, elaborate scheme, and whilst the "hero" is untying the bait, you blow them both up.
