Since there have been two good X-Men films and two not so good X-men, what should done with the X-men movie franchise at this point?

Well, do you have a better plan?

Meh I don't think the X-Men movies have gotten so bad that they need a revamp, the last few are bad, but not offensively bad, just sub par. Maybe just do some X-Men First Class movies, where they can focus on underdeveloped characters like Cyclops. Just hire some better directors and writers.

Now Punisher war zone that's offensively bad, it makes Wolverine look like Citizen Kane.

Now, I never saw X-Men III, but weren't most of the characters killed off? I really don't see how we can continue, unless we make new characters.

Which wouldn't be so bad in itself.

Personally, I think they should get Paul Jenkins to write an X-Men movie. I loved the way he wrote the X-Men: Mythos issues (albeit it was about the original five).

I also don't think they need a revamp. The X-Men movies really haven't warranted that. They can make a new one without having to go back to the beginning.

I had an idea where the next X-Men movie involved with Sinister as the main villain, where throughout the whole movie he'd be doing things to bring back Apocalypse (and at the same time figuring a way to kill him off for good). Apocalypse wouldn't appear in the film, but being set up to be the villain for the next film. This way, 4 can be used to properly set up 'Poccy without ruining/rushing him (re: Venom/Spider-Man 3).

Meh, that's what prequels are for, to focus on underdeveloped characters.

They didn't really have a beginning though, they just kinda introduced most of the characters in the middle of their career in X-Men 1, so you can focus on underdeveloped like Cyclops in a prequel movie. Same continuity, just make some prequels with better writers and directors, if they do First Class well they can get a few films out of that.

HA!

This is X-Men. They die at breakfast and are reborn by lunch.

But really, Cyclops' body was never found. The rule of thumb is that no body = no proof of death. And Xavier is back in the other body with Moira. Also, Jean is Phoenix. The Phoenix is life incarnate. It dies and is reborn. That's the point of the Phoenix.

Let them rest for a decade until the rights shift back over to Marvel Studios. Then start the franchise anew. Not necessarily a full reboot, not an origin story... But if Cyclops is back as team leader, and Jean hasn't phoenixed out, I'm not going to complain.

I wish Marvel Studios would get the rights. But we all know FOX will never let that happen.

Not with Wolverine 2, X-Men: First Class, Deadpool, X-Men Origins: Magneto, and (though not confirmed to happen yet) Gambit coming our way....

Yeah, that's what they're gonna do with First Class. It will be about Jean, Cyclops and Beast.

I'm really hoping Iceman will be in the movie, but I doubt it.... :(

What's accepted by comic book fans and what's accepted by the general audience are two different things.

Elaborate?

In case you didn't get it, the dieing/reborn thing was a joke. At least I was just saying it as a joke anyways.

As to the latter, well, we really didn't see what happened to Cyclops. For all we know, his body can be hidden somewhere in 'protection'. We didn't actually see him die, so we can't really say he's dead. In can easily be written in that for Jean to come back to our world/plane/etc., she had to switch places with Cykes, which also explains why they can't get a reading on Cykes anywhere making them think he's dead.

Xavier - what's not to accept? We see that his mind/soul is now in the guy's body that was comatose in Moira's lab.

As for Phoenix, it's not just in comics where its purpose is to die and be reborn again, that is the actual meaning of a Phoenix.

So I just don't understand what wouldn't be "accepted."

Also, when I said "without having to back to the beginning" earlier, I meant that they didn't have to start back at Square 1 with the X-Men franchise. I didn't mean they didn't have to do an earlier tale of the series or whatever.

Star Trek it and have Jean Grey create a new alternate reality!

But really I'd prefer a more Ultimate style with Cyke, Jean, Beast, Iceman, Storm, Colossus and Wolverine as the lead characters. If not Magneto in the first I'd prefer Sinister as a villain with set up on Apocalypse in a sequel. And call it X-Men: Children of the Atom.

This won't happen though.

I wanted them to have X-Men 4 and just call it "The Uncanny X-Men" like how they went with "The Dark Knight" for the Batman sequel.

That's good as well, but Children of the Atom is so dynamic a title.

I'm not sure, but whatever happens, there better be an enormous mechanical spider.

And Hank McCoy better be a big gay robot.

It can be hard to tell when someone is joking over net, you know where there is no voice tones or anything.

Yeah but people want to see Patrick Stewart as Xavier, not some random guy with Patrick Stewart's voice.

Having 3 characters came back like that would stretch credibility with the general audience.

We never actually saw the guy's face, so I'm sure they'd make it to look like Xavier's twin or something.

I actually didn't mean for all them to come back in the next movie, just that they can be brought back with no problems. I actually think it would be nice if there was no Jean in the next X-Men movie (and no Magneto, either). Not sure about Cykes. I'd probably want him to be brought back since he didn't have much screen time in X2 and even less in 3.
