The All About Comics Thread 4: Gemini Loves Crappy Variant Covers

remove JMS? heavens why?

He would probably be #11. I feel that the rest have written more/better comics than he has with the possible exception of Rucka.

Also, most of America's Best Comics came out this year. That means Alan Moore is definitely on the list.

****. These things are hard to do.

Still... **** Jeph Loeb and Wizard.

ComicAlliance's 15 Worst Comics of the Decade

...and yes...Ultimates 3 and Ultimatum are on the list.

My favorite is #1. It just comes outta nowhere!

That was one of the greatest things I've read in a long time

You know what should be on that list?

The back-ups in Web of Spider-Man featuring Aunt May and JJJS on their extended honeymoon, lots of not veiled at all sexual references about octigenarians there. Seriously it is wretch inducing

I can see what you mean, but JMS wrote Thor, easily one of the best runs in recent Marvel history. Coupled with a run on ASM that if you excise OMD and Sins Past is easily one of the better long term runs on the title. Coupled with his great Supreme Power stuff, his fairly decent turn on Fantastic Four, his new stuff with DC. I'd say he easily deserves to be in the bottom half of the list, probably exactly where he was in the wizard list.

Everything else you said I completely agree with

I would remove Loeb, JMS, Jenkins and Meltzer and replace them with BKV, Ennis, Ellis and Kirkman.

And I would put Quitely, JHW3, Jae Lee and JG Jones on the artists list somehow.

I agree with the BKV, Ennis, Ellis and Kirkman.

Especially with Loeb vs. Kirkman. I mean come on! What has Loeb done in the past decade that can hold a candle to Kirkman's Walking Dead? Hell....even his Invincible? His Long Halloween? No. Superman/Batman? Enjoyable comic fun...but no.

I don't know. On one hand JMS has some great stuff...but it seems like for every hit he has, he's got a disaster as well. Like the article said, you can have a stellar run on Amazing Spider-Man.....but when you give us stuff like One More Day and Sins Past....that tends to tarnish your run.

His Fantastic Four isn't great. But his Thor is. So you kinda even out there.

That's not to say that JMS is a horrible writer and not deserving of any praise. But, personally, I just think there's been better writers out there.

I think the creators of the list are operating under the premise of "the less we talk about it, the better.......and maybe we can just pretend it didn't happen."

I liked Identity Crisis (that scene with Batman and Robin racing to Tim's dad's house is heartbreaking) and Trouble was fun if a bit... unsettling.

That was one of the few exceptions of the series.

But then again I'm a little biased since I tend to not like a lot of DC stuff.

To be fair to JMS, Sins Past, and OMD either would have been completley different and/or not exist at all if JMS had gotten his way

I'm changing my mind about crack. I swore I'd never do it but that's got to be some good stuff if it can make you put Jeph Loeb in any top writers list, much less #2. Wow.

WHAT. WHAT. WHAT?!?!

Wizard is retarded. They don't know a single thing. Bendis and Loeb at the top of the list? No BKV? No Fraction? Jesus Christ. No ELLIS? No Kirkman? The guy who completely revitalized Image? These guys are retarded.

I'm not going to say anything about Wizard because there's not much point in stating the obvious.

In other news, did anyone look at the What If? Secret Invasion? Mary, Moses, Buddha and Ramses, it's even worse then the original event.

Now I gotta check it out.

You know how most what ifs like to kill off everyone as Marvel's way of saying "If things didn't happen EXACTLY the way 616 happened, it would be a thousand times worse."

It's like that, only a thousand times more stupid and editorial mandatey.

No idea if this has been posted but :

Marvel is proud to announce Stephen King's "N." #1 (of 4), a new graphic fiction adaptation of the bestselling author's chilling short story in his recently-released collection, Just After Sunset. The blockbuster creative team of Marc Guggenheim and Alex Maleev, also responsible for the red-hot Stephen King's "N" Motion Comic, tell the story of something terrifying hidden in Ackerman's Field. A bizarre arrangement of eight stones keeps a nightmare contained, but when--in the eye of an unfortunate beholder--the eight stones become seven, the fabric of what we think is real begins to shred, and an unbearable doom seizes the mind.

"It's absolutely thrilling for Marvel to be working on 'N.' again and having the honor to publish it as a comic book miniseries," said said Ruwan Jayatilleke, Marvel Senior Vice President, Development & Planning, Print, Animation and Digital Media. "Both as a fan of the story and a producer on the 'N.' motion comic, I am absolutely psyched for the terrifying ride that Marc, Alex, and the editors have planned for readers!"

It's the graphic fiction adaptation demanded by fans all over the world-- Stephen King's "N." begins in March and no horror fan can afford to miss this alarming tale!
