Couldn't find a toy story 3 thread and thought now enough is coming out to deserve a thread.
A packed cinema in London's Leicester Square was the venue for a world exclusive sneak peak at Toy Story 3 this morning.

John Lasseter was on hand to provide story details and descriptions of the action in question, which included an extended clip from the movie and a brand new trailer.

The clip was a dramatic one, taking place just three days before Andy leaves home for college. While packing, he re-opens his toy box and decides to take Woody with him, placing the rest in storage.

However, Andy becomes side-tracked before he can take the toys up to the attic, and before you can say "To infinity and beyond!", his mother has taken them out with the trash.

It sounds awesome. Loved Toy story 1 + 2 so this should be good.

Re: Toy Story 3

I went and saw Toy Story 1&2 in 3D. It was fun to watch them again back-to-back in the theatres like that, but the 3D part was not all that spectacular. The films weren't made to be 3D so nothing popped out of the screen, everything just had depth.

Oh well, I still had fun.

I'll be honest: the first half or so was brilliant, but the trailer just turned subpar after that. I still have high hopes for this, though.

haha, yes!

There was a pretty clear distinction between the first and the second halves, but I enjoyed both. Nostalgic yet hilarious.

Re: Toy Story 3

I hate myself for saying it, but based on that trailer, it's sort of becoming apparent that these movies are a bit formulaic. It's like these things have to happen:

1. The toys get separated from Andy.

2. Buzz is a kooky weirdo in some way (he already is one, he meets an alternate version of himself or in this case is 'reprogrammed')

3. The toys have to make their way back home.

If this movie doesn't work, it will actually cheapen the other ones because it will just point this fact out.

But in this case, there's no real way they can go back home. Even if Andy takes them back, he won't play with them like he used to.

Maybe Andy could knock up some girl in college and give them to his kid.

Maybe Andy could knock up some girl in college and give them to his kid.

This seems fairly likely to me, since Woody was mentioned to be a "family toy" in the second film.

I can't see Disney having an 18 year old college freshman getting a girl pregnant. Maybe after the toys escape it will jump ahead a few years to when Andy has a family.

Guys...it was a joke.

i'm so excited about this!

Me too. I've taken my kids to movies before but this is a series that they absolutely love and I'm totally geeked to take them to see this one.

Pixar are geniuses.

Re: Toy Story 3

Saw this yesterday.

Words cannot express how much I love Pixar. This was by far the best movie I've seen all year.

(Quick warning. The ending will make you cry. Manly tears.)
